“Just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

I stay here frequently for business, due to the location. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Rooms are fine, though they are not equipped with mini-fridges. Room service is horrible -- this is based on multiple negative experiences. Don't even bother. There is a charge for Internet access, which is annoying. All in all, it's an "ok" choice if you are a Marriotts Rewards member, looking for a location near shopping and restaurants.

For a one night stay that involved a girl trip, the hotel was acceptable. But know going in, that the rooms are unusually small for what I thought a Marriott would offer. Nice open and inviting lobby, great elevator access, wide halls, but the rooms are small. There is a small travel hair dryer (useful, but rather wimpy for my expectation), the bathrooms were very updated and clean and of useful size. But the bedroom was small. There was little room to manuever around. The desk/computer area and television were great, the view (we requested a mountain view) was wonderful, but still surprised at the room size.
The staff was above and beyond wonderful. Very helpful, knowledgeable on Marriott information, offered great service and professional beyond compare.
Would recommend for a short stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a Mountain View Room

Each year our group has their conference there. The hotel, overall, seems to have improved. The service at the front desk very good. The appearance very good. What the huge problem is the food. We were in a banquet for over 200. They served chicked with red potatoes and green beans. I realize the sponsoring group chooses the menu, but still what was served was some of the worst food I have eaten anywhere. Just about everyone I talked to commented how horrible the food was. The potatoes were not cooked all the way through and had black spots all through them. They looked rotten on most everyone's plate. (I guess the potatoes turned black after they cut them and cooked them, but why would you serve something that looked like that?) The chicken was a very small, tough piece. The green beans, well what can you do wrong with that. The only descent part was the chocolate cake and that was good. I would have been so embarrased to have called that Marriott food. I wish now I had taken a photo so you could see how poor the food was.

Another comment, this hotel seems to be specializing in serving youth groups. There were several in the hotel. They are all loud and out-of-control many of them. If you want a quiet, nice stay in Alb. I wouldn't select this place. If I had a choice for conference, based on the very poor food quality, I would never choose this place.

Room Tip: Make sure ask for a floor that there is not a conference group staying on.

After a 12-hour drive through a blizzard, the Marriott just off I-40 in Albuquerque was a welcome beacon. A multi-million dollar remodel recently has freshened the lobby, bar and dining room. The service, as always with Marriott, was terrific. The room, on the 17th floor, offered a view of the city and Sandia Mountains in the distance. It was very well appointed with lighting superior to most other hotel rooms we've stayed in. Dinner and the Sunday brunch were delicious and much more affordable than I had expected. We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Albuquerque.

Room Tip: The view from the 17th floor is extraordinary.

If you had told me when I was pulling up to the Marriott Albuquerque that I would later be giving it a four-star review...I wouldn't have believed you. The entrance is drab, underwhelming and unremarkable. But once inside the door, the service was at the level of a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton - actually, far superior to many Four Seasons or Ritz Carltons that I've stayed at! Truly every single staff member went out of their way to make our group's stay perfect...it was beyond any expectation. The lobby, bar/restaurant and public areas have been refurbished and newly decorated, with long tables for working, computers, flat screen televisions, etc., and a lovely decor. The rooms themselves are older and a bit narrow but perfectly clean and maintained (and nice open views of Albuquerque). There is a large indoor/outdoor pool area and what looked to be a great gym. But for the service, it would have been just your typical nice Marriott but the staff made it a four star experience (with better rooms, it would be a five star). I see from other reviews that I'm not the only one who had this experience! The staff was also incredible with our group's many (often rambunctious) children: overall, the people made our stay just perfect.

Even with almost 100 Discovery Ed employees and a tour bus full of Kansas State fans, this Marriott delivered quality rooms, conference facilities, food, and service! My room was clean, equipped with what I expect in terms of TV, comfy bed, coffee, and good lighting. Conference rooms accommodated both large and small groups. Snacks, beverages, and lunch for the conference were in keeping with what we all wanted in January: healthy, tasty offerings. Cooked-to-order eggs on Sunday morning were just right! It's great to know that when I stay in a Marriott, I get solid service and accommodations!

Stayed there Dec, 14-15 for my Gildan New Mexico Bowl trip and was immensely impressed with the facility and staff. The hotel was full with football fans from Arizona and was busy with all the coming and going, yet we were always greeted with a frinedly smile by staff and if you had a momentary look of confusion, there'd be someone there to offer help.
My room was clean and nicely appointed and the lounge and restaurant were very nice, but if you wanted variety, there are a large number of restaurants, sportbars, cafes and stores within an easy walking distance.
This is our new favorite hotel when in Albuquerque.

Room Tip: We upgraded to a large King room with corner view of the city. The room was on the 12th floor and v...
