“Staff made this Christmas and New Years our best in Decades!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

What a great Holiday week we had at Andaluz. The entire staff, including Valet (Chris) and Engineers (Pedro) go out of their way to make our stay special and make us feel at home. Pauline and Pamela in Reception were always making sure we were taken care of including our only child (pooch) MIsty. We arrived on the evening of the Las Posadas and many of the roads leading to the hotel were blocked for the bus procession. Pauline had me on the phone, settled down my frustrations and guided stayed on the phone to guide me until we arrived. The Christmas dinner and New Years Eve party were both outstanding providing many great memories. What a great Chef!! Our room was large, comfortable and spotless. What a great hotel. We stayed at Hotel Andaluz to attend a wedding. The venue was perfect, staff & ambience amazing! Family members with small children were made to feel so welcome, the kids even joined the piano player/singer in the lobby for a duet! Food & drinks were wonderful, wish I lived nearby I would come for the restaurant & bar, and stay-cations as often as I could! Staff were all friendly, courteous, yet professional & unobtrusive.

Room Tip: I would request a room farther away from the elevator, but even the noise was charming!

We were excited to be celebrating friends New Years Wedding at the hotel and decided to treat ourselves to a romantic stay as well.

When we arrived at the hotel we sat and waited for the valet. After he arrived we made our way into the reception area to check in. The gentlemen who checked us in was kind. Asked if we needed anything brought to our room. I asked for an iron and ironing board.

The room we had was small and even though it said sandia view on the reservation it was more a view of the building next door. If you leaned you could see the mountains. Joy.

There was no mat for the shower so the slippery affect was fun.

2 hours after we checked in still no iron or ironing board so my husband had to call downstairs. Apparently that wasn't enough because an hour later he had to call again. Finally 3 requests and it arrived.

At the wedding we were notified we needed wrist band if we would be leaving the wedding area so we made sure to get one. Drinks we purchased at the wedding were not permitted downstairs so we had to chug or throw them out before joining our friends.

After we rang in the new year we were not allowed up to our room even with our room keys in hand. Apparently we needed another wrist band. Seriously??? We have our key in hand and we can't go up to our room????? When we spoke to the manager she said it was announced at the wedding, we told her we got the wrist band announced at the wedding but no one ever mentioned needing one to go to our room. Isn't this something they should have provided at check in or informed us in ADVANCE???

After that experience we were very upset, we didn't even bother staying the night. Guess we are lucky we even made it to our room to get our stuff.

Horrible service. Horrible end to what was suppose to be a celebration. I should have expected this when it took 3 hours for an iron. My recommendation, don't stay here especially during special events.

Dear MadHatterNM,
We appreciate your time to review our property, thank you. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your visit. A 2-hour wait for an iron and ironing board is not consistent with the level of service we provide for our guests and for that I do apologize. However, due to the large volume of guests who were in attendance of the New Years Eve event and the wedding which took place simultaneously, there were specific security guidelines we followed to ensure the safety and security of every guest. Our guest safety and satisfaction is our number one priority and we only hope to have the honor of having you back as our valued guest so you may truly experience the Andaluz culture. Please feel free to contact me directly at msanchez@hotelandaluz.com if I can be of any further assistance. Thank you again.

Sincerely,
Monica Sanchez

This is a fabulous and interesting hotel. It has recently been renovated and upgraded. The rooms very fairly large, try to create a metropolitan feel, and are upscale ( a bit). The bathrooms were very nice and clean. Its a boutique hotel with style. The lobby is to die for! And you can eat in small private casbahs off the lobby(as well as the dining room) -- very nice! The check in reminded us of our time in a boutique hotel in Amsterdam where you go to a private room and check in -- no main desk. There is a library where you can relax, use the internet, play chess, etc. This is a historical hotel that has stayed up to date. It is also centrally located to the downtown area (Rt 66). We would definitely go back. If you like boutique hotels, with interesting flare, you will like this place. If you are a person who has to stay at a Hilton or Holiday Inn -- move on.

Driving up to the Hotel Andaluz, you wonder where it is..It does not announce itself with a grande facade..but once you are inside, you are transported to another world..you could be in Spain or South America.. A lobby resembling a Spanish courtyard awaits you and one finds on later inspection that this courtyard is surrounded by variously decorated and curtained alcoves where patrons at a downstairs bar may savor drinks..Totally charming!

The reception area greets you with water and non-alchoholic Sangria..with glasses, not throw away cups. This hotel tries to be "green". There is also a cozy library w/fireplace & fire, an upstairs terrace bar with outdoor fires..and a restaurant that serves excellent food..All your needs are met at this hotel.. Be aware, if you have a car, you will want to use the valet parking..an additional 15$ a night..Also ask for AAA..if you have it ..makes quite a difference in room rates.

The hotel was originally a Hilton, opened by Conrad Hilton in 1939..it was allowed to deteriorate, but has since been restored to it's former glory. When see the elevators and then enter your room, you realize the age of the hotel..the rooms are not the size of today's grand hotels..and the bathroom fixtures also bespeak another era. This is not to imply that the rooms are are not comfortable nor adequate..the decoration is whimsical..there are dedicated bed reading lights (which always prompt me to love a hotel)..flat screen TV's, comfortable robes and an in-room safe. Toiletries are not in throw-away sample sizes, but in dispensers attached to the wall..You can ask for a bar of soap if you prefer.. Free internet is also appreciated..

This hotel has a reputation for noisiness on weekends (it's bars attract a crowds) and it also has event facilities. From my experience you will be fine as long as you do not have a room on the second floor..opening on to the balcony above the lobby bar and also where the event hall and terrace bar are located

If you are trying to decide between the Parque Central and Hotel Andaluz (as I was before visiting Albuqurque) Chose the Andaluz. I visited the Parque Central rooftop bar while there. Nice, but overrated as it is right next to the major rte 25..& the hotel does not have the ambience of the Andaluz..tho' 'tis interesting to see how an old hospital has been transformed..

I would return to Albuquerque..just to stay at this hotel :-)

Room Tip: Do not book a second floor room if you want quiet.

We were driving through town and I wanted to get a drink. I had heard about this historical hotel so we went to check it out. We had valet parking (had to wait a few for them to come out there). We walked in and went to a semi private lounge area that had a little waterfall in it and white couches with silver tables. So elegant and comfortable. I was celebratingmy 50th birthday and wanted a Mimosa at 2 in the afternoon. Lo and behold, I got my Mimosa! Our server was Bridgette and she made us feel welcome and acknowledged my birthday! We had calamari for a snack and then coffee and Bailey's with Creme Brulee for dessert. It was very quiet and relaxing. Just perfect for us.

We did not stay here because we were close to home. The hotel is beautifully appointed and has a Spanish/Moroccan theme. Tastefully done. Very clean. Right in downtown Albuquerque.

I love this place and will recommend it to anyone 21 and older.

Because I have family in Santa Fe, I have never stayed in Albuquerque before. Faced with an early morning flight home, I decided to stay in this hotel- I'd always wanted to. Let me say that this hotel by itself would be a reason to go to Albuquerque. For me, travel is about being transported from the daily grind and this hotel makes that kind of impact the minute you walk in. The attention to detail, the sumptous decor, the warm staff, that luscious BED- the nicest linens and pillow ever! I noted in the hotel services folder that you can even request different specialty pillows. I will be back- this time to stay more than one night so I can really relax and enjoy this gem- I need to make an assignation in each of the niches in the lobby for one thing. This hotel is world-class
