“Thanks Dave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

A group of friends and I stayed here for New Years. The hotel was beautiful and the party was fun but what really impressed me was the service. On the way to Andaluz, one of the members of my party hurt his back. While Dave was checking us in, he expressed great concern for my friends injury and even offered pain relievers which we declined because we had some already. But, Dave went above and beyond, and was able to rustle up a back brace for my friend to borrow for the night. He was able to enjoy the evening pain-free with this courtesy. No extra charge, just asked to return the brace upon checkout. Will definitely consider Andaluz again even though I'm a local!

Pros:

+Trendy, artsy, beautiful, historic
+Something different from chain hotels
+Friendly staff (atypical of these downtown trendy hotels)
+Very economical
+Very comfortable rooms, tasteful and practical decor
+The centerpiece lobby is awesome to hang out
+Beautiful library too
+Not scary like that other restored hotel (Parq central: which is clearly a mental hospital.... just driving by it gives me the creeps.... eek)
+Great restaurant on site

Cons:
-Parking not free, but not a rip off, even if you valet
-Not much to do around downtown Albuquerque, not its fault.

Room Tip: High floor rooms have better views

If you are tired of staying in chain hoteIs but still want all of the comforts they provide, this is the hotel for you. I have stayed at the Andaluz twice in the past year and have had a wonderful experience both times. This is a beautiful hotel that oozes New Mexican charm. The rooms are unique and well-appointed and the beds are very comfortable. On this past visit, the first room they put me in was rather small but I asked for a change and was give a much larger room, which I preferred because I was staying for a few days. The previous room I stayed in was also quite large. Both had a spacious seating area and a large desk. All of the staff at the hotel were very polite and accommodating. The restaurant, Lucia, is also well-run and the food is delicious. You can choose to eat in the restaurant or in one of the cozy and lovely alcoves in the lobby. This hotel stays true to its committment to the environment without sacrificing luxury and is remarkably affordable.

Room Tip: Room 502 is a good choice.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. We continually strive to create memorable experiences through our service, product and entertainment. We know that there are many options out there and we want our guests to have a unique experience when they stay with us. The owner of the hotel took great measures to design a warm, inviting atmosphere that kept the New Mexico charm and also decor from southern Spain.

Thank you again. We look forward to your next visit. Please contact me directly if I can be of assistance.

Sincerely,

We spent the week of Christmas here with our family and would highly recommend it.

Here is what we liked:

− Location: Its location downtown was perfect for catching the luminaria tour two blocks away at the convention center. Old Town is a short 5-minute drive away. Nob Hill and historic Route 66 is also a short and easy drive.
− Perfect for large groups: The lobby has ample seating for relaxing and catching up at the end of the day, including some very special private conversation areas that are decorated beautifully.
− Meals: We enjoyed the hotel's restaurant, Lucia for breakfast and dinner. It serves excellent, healthy meal options and is especially good for vegetarians. Christmas dinner was great – very festive and special. They also hosted a brunch from 11 am-3 pm. Breakfasts on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning were complimentary and served in their library with the kiva fire place. Around the corner from the hotel is Central Ave with plenty of dining options. We liked Sushi Hana and walked there twice for dinner. Otherwise, it is mostly delicatessens, bars and gentleman’s clubs.
− Music: The hotel booked live jazz on two nights before Christmas. Both bands were excellent. We couldn’t believe how relaxing it was to sip a good drink and listen to great jazz in our hotel!
− Accommodations: Our Andaluz King or Premier King had ample room for two adults. It included a living area with sofa and desk, two good-sized windows overlooking the mountains, a TV that swiveled, and a separate bath with sink and shower. Our King bed was full-size and very comfortable. The rooms vary, so inquire about space and seating. Our son’s room was a bit more spacious. He had a chair and sofa in addition to the king bed. His bath was also separate from the vanity. Note: Neither had a chest of drawers and the closets were small.
− Service: This is a full service hotel. We chose valet parking and appreciated it. Although we parked on the streets during the day when we were coming and going, it was nice to have the additional security of a parking lot with surveillance at night. Valet parking is $16 a day. You can also self-park in the neighboring garage for $10 a day.
− Clientele: This hotel attracts guests from around the world. We met people from France and Japan during our stay. Everyone was very friendly, and we got some great tips for our drive back through Texas. Hill Country!
− Value: Really? Only $111 a night for all these amenities??? We should have stayed longer!

Thank you Hotel Andaluz for making our Christmas so special.

Room Tip: Room numbers ending in -01 and -02 are next to the elevators and can be noisy. Odd number rooms face...

Retirement age professionals who travel widely found this a piece of Southern Spain in terms of ambiance and architecture. We try to avoid chain hotels, where we can find, something of interest. I picked it based on the pictures. The reality lived up to the images. Homey little library with a fire burning and little side room "casbash" where you might have a tete a tete. The rooms are classy modern New Mexico . . . lots of wood. Watch out though. The address is on 2nd street. Neighborhood isn't great, but it's very easy to get to the Conventin Center.
