“Beautifully restored hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

The Hotel Andaluz is a beautiful old hotel located in downtown Albuquerque, within a block of the convention center. The property is stunning yet comfortable and not stuffy in the least. The staff is friendly, yet not overly so...reserved may be a good description. My room was very small, but again very beautiful and comfortable. I understand that there are larger rooms so if spreading out a bit is important, you might want to ask ahead.

The hotel restaurant, Lucia, is wonderful and not to be missed.

As other reviewers have mentioned, in-room coffee makers are by request. I had to ask three times, but one was eventually brought up and the coffee was stellar!

My only real complaint was the shower. The water takes forever to warm up (wasteful in my book) and the pressure in the shower is just plain weird...sort of hard but sprayed all over the place. Being a green hotel is good, but there are low pressure shower heads that direct the water onto me and not all over the tub. :)

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room if you like to spread out. Mine was tiny, but fine for me!

Thank you for your comments and observations. I am thrilled that you found the hotel to be beautiful yet not stuffy. The main idea behind the renovation was to incorporate design with comfort and warmth. I was also happy to hear about your experience in Lucia.
I must say I was a bit disappointed to hear that your requests were not quickly completed. I would love to hear from you to find out which room you were in so I can have our engineering department check the water pressure.
Thank you again for your comments and we truly look forward to your next stay with is.

SIncerely,

We spent two nights here in October. The room was huge, with a king bed, large windows which actually open, couch, chair, desk, table, etc. Separate bathroom with adjoining room containing double sinks, closet, safe. All outlets were on top pf the desk and on top of the bedside table...genius! Free wi-fi in the room, a great onsite restaurant, and friendly, helpful employees. The hotel is downtown rather than in Old Town, but there is a bus that runs right by the door every 15 minutes and goes to all the major attractions. The rooftop lounge complete with fireplace is a great place to unwind at the end of the day. We would definitely stay there again.

I was so happy to read your review and to see your comments. There was a lot of thought put into the room and the functionality, from the drawers that don't slam shut to the outlets readily available on the desktop. Thank you again and we look forward to your return visit.

Sincerely,

We so enjoyed our four night stay. We were in town for the Balloon Fiesta. Hotel Andaluz was the perfect place to stay in downtown Albuquerque. The staff was friendly and helpful. Valet parking was a breeze! We would definitely come back.

An original Hilton hotel, the recent upgrade has managed to keep all of the original art deco charm while adding a Spanish Moroccan flavor. The lobby is like stepping into a Moroccan Kasbah - an absolute oasis from downtown Albuquerque. The lobby bar is calm and quiet - a great place for a nightcap. The mezanine bar looked good too with indoor/outdoor options and comfy seating. Restaurants were appealing and among the best dining options in the area.

We stayed in a King room which was very large and very inviting. The furnishings were a combination of rustic and modern which worked well. The super comfy bed was complete with TWO down comforters - absolute heaven after a long day of walking and sightseeing. The bathroom was modern, spacious and clean. Shower only, with toiletries in the industrial type dispensors on the wall - not as nice as individual products but fitting with their 'green' image. Rooms have a well stocked mini bar - regular prices but don't have coffee makers, wine glasses or cork screws but it will all be delvered to your room if you ask.

The hotel doesn't have airport pickup but taxi's are plentiful (and friendly) costing about $20 for quick and convenient transport. Being right downtown was nice but fairly quiet during the weekend. The old historic town is within walking distance and there are some great breakfast cafe's, pubs and restaurants in the area. Try Tucano's grille for a meat lovers treat - with a great salad bar to complement.

A great choice for a downtown hotel in Albuquerque - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or stay again on my next visit.

Room Tip: King rooms are very spacious but ask for a room higher than the 4th floor if you want a view.
