“Worth the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011

Front desk clerks are very courteous and professional. The breakfast was not just a bagel, cup of coffee and get out, it was a nice sit down meal to start us on our drive. Although the hotel was finishing their renovation it didn't disturb our stay at all. Overall, great value, great service and easy on and off the interstate.

Have you ever been tired after a long day with kids and just wanted a place to sleep ?
Well up until Sunday, I had trusted the Choice Hotel name.

I called the hotel and they had rooms so we arrived about 30 minutes later.
I checked in and went to the room looking for a bed.

After looking at the run down condition of the room we were ready to leave but did not,
because everyone was tired.
A lesson learned...DO NOT TRUST A HOTEL BRAND NAME.

Room Tip: Don't

Checked in a 6pm. Booked a nonsmoking King. Room smelled heavily of old cigarette smoke. The desk changed rooms to a non smoking double. TV remote was not programmed for the TV. Used the internet to program it myself. Our friends checked in at the same time that we did and had to wait for their room to be cleaned. On a positive note, the breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. The hotel was in the midst of being "remodeled" (new carpet and paint) but needed more than that in my opinion. Would not stay here again.

We stayed here one night at the beginning of our road trip and one night on the way back (we should have changed hotels on the way back). The first time the desk clerk was very efficient and we got the handicap accessible room we needed. But there was no frig or microwave as promised. Room numbers were missing from doors or taped to the windows. It's obvious they are painting and repairing, but putting paint over old glue and dents without fixing doens't hide the old. The wallpaper was already pealing and the new tile in the bathroom floor was uneven. The waffle maker in the breakfast area was disgusting with old burnt on gunk. They also allow a cat to wander around the breakfast area and the check in desk.

On the day we came back, a new desk clerk couldn't figure out the room system and at one point told us there weren't enough rooms (we needed two and had reservations). He had to call someone because there was no one else on premise that could help him. We didn't get the handicap room. The security lock in one room was broken, the metal door was dented so bad it couldn't close properly (but is was painted like new), the sink didn't drain because the plumbing wasn't correctly connected! The matress was dirty. Oh and the unisex bathroom in the check-in area didn't have a lock on the main door.

Yes we should have been smart enough to change the return plans, but we didn't figure it would get worse. Rooms were $51 so I guess we almost got what we paid for. Maybe should have been more like $30. We have stayed in Comfort Inns in the past and this one should be an embarrassment to them.

I only write TA reviews for really good or really bad places - the 'ok' ones stand on their own merit. This Hotel was one of the worst I hav ever stayed in .My daughter made the reservation for 2 adjoining rooms each supposedly with 2 queen beds. We had a family of 4 (parents and 2 girls ages 6 and 12) and 2 Grandmothers. The rooms assigned were one with queens and one with doubles. So my daughter and husband and children movved to the other side of the complex - the only one with 2 queens. Their room had a malfunctioning toilet and tv. They only stayed 1 night and then moved to Holiday Inn down the Highway. The pool was closed by the Health Dept. (?!), the room swere filthy - the carpet left black marks on flip-flops (!!), there were not enough towels, etc., etc.. The staff said they were remodeling and trying to get ready for some big Pow wow coming up. They need to do more than remodeling!

I happened to stay here during the subzero storms a few weeks ago.its an ok, property, the hot tub is in a gazebo, and it worked more or less on the night I used points to stay,, but the storm was so bad that it couldnt handle it on the 2nd night.thats not a flaw, just an observation, it is albuquerque after all, where 30 below is very uncommon.its near a convenient grocery store.(smiths)the lobby PC seems to have some issues, but they seem to be trying to straighten them out.to thepoint of buying a new one,but still.,lobby coffee is available 24/7, and no issues with CC or reservation problems, friendly staff, convenient to abq bus lines downtown (rail runner station), the local horsetrack, (downs at albuquerque, and significantly cheaper than airport area hotels). decent breakfast.not the best view, since its next to a self storage area, but het waddyagonnado, its abq.--carls jr across the street, but i prefer smiths dele.better deals.again, no real complimentary newspaper, but rather USA today, but there is an albuquerque journal rack outside the front door.--keeping in mind this review was written during the winter maintenance season, so i imagine come summer the property is about $10.oo more a night.the heater in the room did the best it could, but as noted, it was 30 below out., so, a bit chilly, in normal weather, a perfectly acceptable property for the value, and points for choice privileges posted promptly.

This hotel was oddly laid out - the rooms were in a separate building from the main office and behind the pool. The rooms were good sized. The bed was comfortable as well. Overall, a good value.
