“Get the meatloaf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Renovated gas station that has evolved into a great local restaurant. The bacon wrapped meatloaf is excellent. No chunks of undercooked onion, no soggy breadcrumbs and it isn't just a dressed up burger. Served with a really tasty onion gravy that is a great compliment. There is a country fried tuna that one of my dinner companions orders regularly. And a changing menu of desserts. The almond lemon citrus cake was luscious.

“Quite disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

I'll begin this review by saying something positive. Our salads were great and the waiter was both attentive and efficient. The meal seemed to go downhill after the salads. I was excited about ordering the Chicken Fried Steak after reading reviews about it on two different sites. When it arrived at the table, it looked like every other pre-breaded and frozen food service steak served by most restaurants. The taste was mediocre at best. The waiter said he didn't know whether or not it was hand-breaded in-house. I took that to mean no. My spouse ordered the Reuben sandwich and said it was one of the worst he'd ever eaten(and he's ordered Reubens a lot. The swirled rye was dry and the corned beef was sparse and without much taste. In his opinion, if the Standard can't improve greatly on their Reuben, the sandwich should be taken off the menu. Also, his accompanying sweet potato fries came to the table warm, not hot. We determined that here are plenty of other restaurants to try next visit to ABQ.

“The pasties!!! ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

The pasties are always phenomenal. The tomato soup is the best I've ever had. The service could be better but it's usually not great because we tend to go during busy times.

“Always wanted to go here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

The Standard Diner is always advertised in New Mexico Magazine and we finally got there. The food is fresh as can be. I had a beet salad and strawberry, balsamic and black pepper pie..YUM

“A bit baffled...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Went there during a business trip to meet friends for dinner. There were 6 of us on a table. Everybody had a different plate, and I ordered wine for the group, from their wine special list.
My food came wrong, twice. The first bottle of wine was unacceptable, the replacement was much like a $ 5:00 store bought bottle, but at least acceptable. All 6 of the meals were less than stellar, and I returned mine eventually for a different selection, which was also over lasted, greasy, and uninspiring. I felt sorry for bringing my friends and associates here. They have a nice ambiance, but very little to fill the experience with quality food, or at least such was my experience.
