“Cavernous atrium and gym too small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

Everything was about average except the gym was way too small for anhotelnthat big. I had to wait to use the equipment as a number of machines were not working.

The facility is clean and staff friendly. Hot breakfast and cooed-to-order omelets are wonderful. Location convenient and easy to access. Close to downtown. Manager's reception in the evenings could be improved.

Stayed here midweek in Aug 2011 for 4 days. The staff was friendly and helpful in general, the exception being the younger female receptionists who were not very mature/professional (when they didn't know something or couldn't find something they would just say "Sorry, I don't know" instead of trying to find out).
The hotel is conveniently located (near the intersection of the 2 main highways of the city), just NE of the downtown area. The city is laid out on a grid, with NE/NW/SE/SW (the highways' intersection= the center) tacked on to addresses. The hotel didn't have a good map of the city, but the Visitors Centers do (or find one online before you go) which lays out the 11 neighborhoods. There's nothing in terms of stores immediately around the hotel and the hotel doesn't offer a shuttle, so you'll need to use other kinds of transportation. Being centrally located, you can find restaurants and other stores within a 5 minute drive, but look up your destination before venturing out since it isn't a city where you can readily find things by just walking/driving around.
The interior of the hotel is an oasis from the desert heat with multiple floors of rooms looking onto a central atrium with waterfalls and 2 restaurants/dining areas. In the Cafe, they serve a full breakfast and have a Manager's Reception (with a variety of mixed drinks & wines, salsa/chips, cheese/crackers/fruits and other nibbles) each day, all complimentary. There's a small arcade, a pool & hot tub, and an execise room, all very well maintained. There's also an conference center wing which has an excellent business center which includes basic office supplies, a printer and 3 very nice computers with Internet access. (I believe you can get Internet access from your room as well, but there may be a fee.) There was also a full bar area and coffee/snack/convenience area. The later serves Starbucks coffee (limited menu), prepared sandwiches and salads, and ice cream (limited also). Convenience items & souveniers are extremely limited.
The room we were in was a 1 bedroom (king bed) suite which was very clean, had heavy duty thermal curtains (to block out the intense heat of the sun during the day). The interior windows facing the atrium also had thick privacy curtains. The room came equiped with a refrigerator, microwave, small sink and coffee maker (complimentary, single serving coffee). The living room and bedroom both had LG televisions, which also had computer (Windows) capability for an extra fee. The living room had a sofabed. In all, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
Spa in hotel is full-service, but on the pricey side, no discounts for hotel guests.

We were on a road trip from TX to UT and stopped to stay at this hotel. The hotel was beautiful and our room was clean and comfortable. The free happy hour was great and the bartender was making the drinks strong! :-) We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner. The food was good but our waitress was slow and rude. Breakfast was exceptional. We will definitely return to this hotel when traveling through Albuquerque!

I've had stayed at this property numerous times. However, in the past few years, I've stayed away from there. In the past, I've slept in a bed with socks underneath the covers. A child going #2 in the pool. And now currently, nothing bad except a huge spill of water in one of the elevators(safety issue) my niece almost fell. It must've been from the pool, but the pool closes earlier than midnight. We saw guests going around the entire hotel dripping wet. Not sure if they are guests. Anyways, I decided to stay here because of a decent rate I got off the internet. I called reservations the same day, the lady kinda gave me a hard time because I was trying to get a state govt rate. So, I just made my reservations online. I checked in about midnight. Not a long wait at the front desk which was ok. He issued me a nice room(top floor = Good Customer Service). Nothing to complain about. Next day, we had cooked to order breakfast. No complaints there. Everything was well stocked despite the economy issue. I requested a late checkout, no problems there. The staff was great and helpful. My opinion about my stays at this hotel is decent. I would assume it's a hotel for business people, but not quite. They hold weddings and other functions at this hotel. It would make this a family friendly hotel, I guess. My suggestion is to create a quiet friendly environment with the upper floors. While the lower floors be for those guests with family functions. It would only be fair to all guests. Afterall, I believe a majority of your guests come to your business to sleep. Each room is a 2 room suite with refrig, microwave, and 2 TV's. All in all, I would stay here as a second choice. I prefer to stay at Hyatt Place Airport. They consistly give me a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable stay 99% of the time.

Room Tip: It's not worth paying the extra money to get a great view from this hotel. Mountain view or cit...

We love Embassy Suites! Great rooms, for the adults and kids--we each had our own space and televisions--fun happy hour, delicious breakfast and good workout area. This Embassy Suites was pretty busy, crowded pool as it is also an event center--but our stay was fun! This hotel is also in a very good location--many things to do close by.
