“Skip the Shish-Kbab”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

This place is a dive bar close to the stadium. The place had a reputation in the past as having good bar-b-que. However, that is all in the past. Four of us ate there on a Wednesday night and the place was nearly empty at 7pm. That was the first clue. The service was conscientious, but inexperienced. The waiter/bartender mixed up our beers, all amber liquids look the same. Whatever. However, the food was very disappointing. I had the Shish-Kbab, which is listed as one of their specialties. The portions were huge, but the sirloin pieces were tough as leather. Others had ribs, barbeque beef, and chicken. The beef seemed like reheated left-overs from the week-end. These were better than mine, but very average. Especially for the higher than average prices.

“Don't judge by cover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

This is one ugly restaurant. The portions are large. And the BBQ is good. Service a little slow, but the place was busy.

“Was a good Place, not anymore”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

For years Quarters was THE place for BBQ in ABQ, sadly, not anymore. The service is slow, the food comes out cold, the managers don't care, the waiters don't know what they are talking about. The food was clod, dry and over cooked. There are lots of other places for BBQin Albuquerque, any of them would be a beeter choice.

“Used to be good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

I want to be clear this is about The Quarters on Yale. I don't know what restaurant that thumbnail is of, but it's not The Quarters on Yale.

For about ten years I've met up with the same group of guys a couple times a year for a (UNM) Lobo game. We always meet for lunch or dinner before the game, and The Quarters was one of our go to places. The place is a total dive and is actually a little scary looking from the outside. That was always ok because they used serve some pretty darn good BBQ, and it was always packed with Lobo faithful.

We stopped in a couple weeks ago and noticed how easy it was to find a parking spot. That should have tipped us off that things have changed. The food was pretty bad all the way around.
Meals were delivered without sides, without sauce, overcooked and yet barely warm. I had a steak that was as tough as leather and smeared with greasy cheese. I give them one score above bottom for a pretty decent Cesar salad.

One of our group finally said what no one really wanted to say. "I don't think we should come back here anymore, it's not the same." Agreed.

“Very friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

I go here occasionally when in Albuquerque and sit at the bar to watch whatever sport is on tv. The service is always very friendly and accommodating. Tonight I had the Greek chicken salad. It was good and filling. I would have it again.
