Rather than count on the spectacular view and unique location as the only food option at the top of the Sandia Crest tramway to draw customers, this restaurant and bar, with its alpine ambiance and wrap-around view, serves good, fresh food at a fair price. Other reviewers, and some of our Albuquerque friends, have been disappointed; so the quality might vary from one day to the next. But on our recent lunch visit, one member of our party raved about the Albuquerque Turkey sandwich, while the vegan in our group pronounced the grilled Portabello mushroom on focaccia perfect. Our own wedge salad, ordered large, had a rewarding crunch and a pleasing balance of bleu cheese dressing and crumbled bacon. Spinach and artichoke dip made a tasty appetizer. It was too early in the day for us to order one of the specialty drinks, but we wondered if those who did realized that alcohol would hit them harder at 10,400 feet than at sea level or even at Albuquerque's mile high. Our only complaint was with the service; it was pleasant, but our waitress did a mysterious 15-minute disappearing act.
