My wife & I truly love sushi, & we’re constantly trying new places in the Albuquerque area. We had never dined at Shogun Japanese Restaurant before. This is the establishment that deliver’s your menu selections to you via little boats, so we were excited to give it a try. The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant appeared to be clean, & we were seated at the bar immediately upon arrival.
We started off with our usual Squid Salad, followed by a Super Crunchy Roll. We then ordered Tuna, Fresh Water Eel & a Dragon Roll to complete the dinner, all washed down with a couple large bowl's of hot Sake.
After dinner we attend a Christmas lights display at the Botanical Gardens, & as we walked around we talked about the fine dinner we had just enjoyed. But later that evening, everything was about to change. Throughout the entire night, & all the next day, both of us had a server case of diarrhea & upset stomach. It felt like a mild case of food poisoning.
Being New Mexico is miles for the nearest ocean, freshness of the fish is always a major concern here. I don’t think they purposely served us bad fish, but I have never felt that ill after a sushi dinner in my life. Unfortunately, after our experience, my wife & I will not be returning to Shogun Japanese Restaurant...
