This is a neat-looking place very near Kirtland AFB. The walls are decorated with military items and tributes to the armed forces. We gave the menu a fair sample, trying the BBQ, seafood and a number of sides. The food was just ok.
The (semi-pulled) pork portion was ample and came with sauce on the side.
The fried oysters did appear to be hand-breaded, as advertised, but the fried shrimp were breaded differently, resembling basic food service shrimp. There was nothing "wrong" with the food - it just wasn't good.
The sides were average or below. Soggy corn on the cob, watery cole slaw, and a basic bbq-cooked "baked potato." The congealed cocktail sauce might be an indication of a 'prepare ahead and hope for the best" philosophy. Only the rolls stood out. They were fresh, buttery and light. We ended up using the rolls for the po' boy instead of the bun provided.
It was a slow night and the service was off (staff standing around while the greater/server server was on a very long phone call). For the quality of the food, the prices seemed high. This place might be better during peak time, but I'm not in a hurry to find out. Much better bbq (and seafood) is easy to find nearby.
