“Awesome at sunset”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

Great place to go for a hike at sunset. Well great anytime but if you can make it at sunset, the views are especially pretty.

“great trails and views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

We found this site on TripAdvisor and visited on a Sunday morning. It is a very popular spot with limited amount of parking, sort of under the Sandia Tramway. We only walked along the nature trail, but the scenery and condition of the trail were great. One could hike up/down the mountain and ride the tram the other direction. Plan on spending 1-8 hours. Picnic sites are available but take food and water.

Always a lovely escape from the the hustle and bustle by taking a hike in the Sandia Mtns. Elena Gallegos is a great place to begin. Park here to find miles of fun hikes at various levels of difficulty and always with beautiful views!

“open space corridor to the sandias - by foot, horse or bike.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

this is a place where everyone - i mean everyone can have a wonderful time and able to access this beautiful foothill space siting under the cliffs of the sandias. the pino trail is gradual and very interesting in that it rises through NM's varied climates. which means one can see flora and fauna which reflect the gradual climb to 10000 plus feet. give yourself a lot of time to get to the ridge trail especially if you are from a part of the world which is less than 5000 feet elevation. you will not be disappointed.

“Great walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Great place to walk, view the mountains, birds and other critters.
Adequate parking, all paved walk ways and very well maintained bridges and kiosks.
