This is one of my favorite spots in New Mexico for hiking, trail running, mountain biking, picnicking, or just for the beautiful view. The trails are well marked and nicely maintained. We generally go early or late in the day in the summer. The sunset from this view is amazing, with the backdrop of the pink Sandia Mountains, the city in the foreground, and the volcanoes and Mount Taylor in the distance. If you are going during the day, take sunscreen, a hat, and bring water. There are bathroom facilities. There is a wheelchair accessible trail and bathroom. The rattlesnakes won't bother you if you don't bother them. Make sure to stop at the wildlife blind to see the birds. There is a vehicle fee of a few dollars. Well worth it and the $ supports the Open Spaces in and around Albuquerque.
