“greens really suck”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Played Isleta last week and was appalled at the greens. The fairways were fine for this time
in the season, but the greens were either sanded with brown sand or dirt and they had
large patches of winter kill. Bare spots were uneven and they had punched some of those
dead spots. I had played UNM the day before and it was in great shape. Don't waste your time
at Isleta.

“Looks nice from the road, but what a dump.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Well, with all the golfing I have done around Albuquerque I have missed Isleta until last week. Now granted it is early in the season, but the front nine, which is visible from the street looked nice enough. You have to remember that this course was built in the desert. Very few trees, but some interesting contours to keep you guessing.

As I said, the front nine was okay, but the back was a disaster. Lots of brown patches and greens that never recovered from being prepped. At one, a smallish 8x8 area was being watered with sprinklers so out of adjustment that the four greenside bunkers were all mud pits. The green at the 18th was unbelievably bad. Large areas of just dirt and the rest almost unputtable. And of course on that day, the hole was right in the middle of the worst of it.

To add insult to injury, the cost was $69 for 18 and 1/2 cart. You can golf at Sandia for less than $10 more and it is always in nice shape, Plus there are restaurants that don't look like a muni course cafeteria. I have seen better conditions at Albuquerque's muni courses and you pay about 1/2. Don't waste your time or money here.

Also for what it's worth a knowledgeable golf friend tells me that Isleta is almost always in that bad of shape, regardless of the time of year. How some can call this the best or great is simply beyond me.

“Great Course!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

This is my favorite local course inside of Albuquerque. Although it is located on the Isleta Pueblo Reservation, it is considered within the metro area. The fairways are wide, the greens are great. As the day goes on the course and the greens change with the heat of the day, but the course will be kind to you. The service is also good and the price is fair.

“What a shame - beautiful setting - terrible golf course”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2010

What a setting! All the room in a world and they build something like this. Bad layout. Dumb greens. Go up I25 a few miles to UNM, which is a real traditional test of golf.

“Best Course in Albquerque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2008

The best bang for the buck in the 505. A great links/native desert layout. Staff was friendly and courteous.
