Sometimes renovations of historic buildings miss the mark as hotels, but this one is excellent! The room was clean, spacious, and had up to date amenities. The bed was comfortable and did not have those "precious" and unnecessary decorative pillows that seem to be rage these days. The staff were friendly, competent, and efficient, and both check in and check out were easy and quick. Breakfast was several levels above the kind often served in hotel breakfast rooms and the breakfast staff were very friendly and and intent on pleasing guests. The only quibble I have is the $5.00 charge for a bottle of water in the room! REALLY?!?!
