“Great Choice In Albuquerque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

What a great little hotel. From time of arrival to departure, the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Rooms were modern and comfortable, if a little dark. Hotel design is smart and functional down to the doors closing off hallways from the lobby to abate the noise. Beautiful common areas and yet still right off of the freeway (no noise!) and close to everything. History of the building is fascinating. Don't let the fact that it was once a hospital and then a Mental Hospital put you off. The property embraces the history in small ways throughout and there certainly is not trace of previous years left in this beautifully remodeled facility. For my money, this is the choice in Albuquerque.

“What a gem!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We booked our stay for New Years Eve. I was looking for something romantic and this was it!! The 1920's style hospital has been remodeled and updated yet kept its clean look and feel. The straight lines of the furniture was classic!! We selected a cottage, I wanted a fireplace!! It was a beautiful two room suite with our own private patio. We opted for the strawberries and sparkling wine on our first night which was delivered promptly and loved that they used a local vineyard. The Gruet was fantastic!! However, this was their only NM Wine which was disappointing.

This was one of the first hotels where I found the bed and pillows to be just as comfortable as home. We didn't want to leave!!

For NYE we decided to stay at the hotel and take advantage of their package. The buffet was decent, the prime rib was good!! Enjoyed the jazz music in the lobby area. The Apothecary was too packed and we spent most of our time out on the rooftop while upstairs. We did enjoy the barkeeps. Alex hooked us up with the biggest pitcher of margaritas which tasted fantastic. He gave us everything we needed to head back to our room and enjoy this delectable treat.

We will definitely stay here again!! I want to see the place in the summer when the weather is better to enjoy the skyline view from the rooftop.

Dear 1990reject,

Thank you for choosing to spend New Year's Eve with us at Hotel Parq Central. We are glad that we met your expectations and that the look and feel of the hotel preserved the 1920's style and classic feel. We are pleased that you enjoyed one of our three cottages- the most high end suites on property- and also the champagne and strawberries included with the New Year's Eve package. We are happy that you found the bed to be as comfortable as your home. We are delighted that you enjoyed the menu and the music in the Parlor area and also the lovely views from the Apothecary Lounge on the rooftop. Alex is a great bartender and we are happy that he took care of you and provided a pitcher of margaritas and glasses for you to enjoy in your room.

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review of your stay with us at Hotel Parq Central and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

“Old + New = Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We've stayed at a number of different hotels over the years in Albuquerque, usually for a night or two on the way to Santa Fe. Most have left something to be desired. Hotel Parq Central changes the game for us - I can't imagine staying anywhere else in ABQ after our two nights there. The hotel is a renovation of the old Santa Fe Hospital, built in the 1920s. It combines the best of modern amenities with touches of the past to create a truly unique space. The rooms are sleek, in neutral colors, but very comfortable. There are antique-looking lighting fixtures throughout the hotel and cases filled with memorabilia that recall its past. I have to say that the bed provided probably the best two night's sleep I've had in a hotel in ages.

While there is no restaurant on site, they do offer a complimentary breakfast buffet that is quite good (quiche, decent pastries, fruit, etc.), and there's a lovely lounge on the fourth floor, open evenings, with some food options and nice views of the city. But given the location, you can easily walk to several good restaurants, and anything you could possibly want is just a mile or two away. There is a nice back patio area which is probably very pleasant in the warm weather and a 24-hour outdoor Jacuzzi. The staff is young and they really seem to enjoy being helpful.

You won't be disappointed in the Hotel Parq Central. I've stayed in hotels from New York City to Los Angeles and everywhere in between in the last couple of years, and this place moves to the top of my "favorites" list. It provides an outstanding value for the money. We're looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Ask to stay on the western side of the hotel, so your room does not face I-25.

“Mental Hospital? Lock Me Up!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We stayed here on 1.3.13.

This place used to be a mental hospital for children and I was dreading the thought of staying here. My wife had read about this hotel and informed me of the rumors of it being haunted. Ghosts seem to be attracted to me and I'm not thrilled about this. Fortunately, they left me alone.

The first thing I noticed about the Parq is how clean the outside was and how cool was the architecture. We went inside and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They showed us two rooms. We opted for the executive king suite.

The entire building had been renovated over a three year period. The attention to detail here is impressive. The rooms are not huge. They're not meant to be huge. They're meant to be waaay cool. That's exactly what they are. Everything is high end including the towels, sheets, shampoo, soap, bathrobe, fixtures, bed and the rest of the furniture. You can just see how much quality is there in every corner of the room.

I wish we'd had more time to stay here but we only had one night to spare.

The Apothecary Lounge is on the top floor and they have enough food and drinks to keep you from having to go anywhere. Breakfast includes quiche, which is VERY yummy (we had two servings).

If you want large rooms cluttered with furniture, a microwave and a coffee maker... go to a chain hotel. If you want an affordable EXPERIENCE... stay here.

I would love to stay here again.

“Christmas at Hotel Parq Central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

For those of you who love their bathtubs, and are willing to walk 100 yards behind the hotel, request the Residence, the former doctors residence. Even though the tubs are awkward to use, they ARE tubs, and were very much appreciated as were the amenities. We stayed in 103 on the first floor which faced a small park and quiet neighborhood, with parking extremely close, a gate away from the hot tub. Frette linens and a great king bed.
The breakfasts were excellent, though always the same. Good coffee in breakfast room, but the coffee set up at 6am in the upstairs of the residence was too old for the late riser. We loved our Christmas Eve stocking and turndown, very nice. But the best part was the family living room where we celebrated, with decorated tree, gas fireplace, music if you dialed it in, and good chairs and lamps for reading. Our room was fairly small, but had sufficient storage, lights and a easy chair, plus a fine TV. I wish it had a mini-frig. Daughter and son-in-law were on the other side of the family room in 104, a deluxe room with windows on 3 sides with much more room, although the same furnishings except they had a refrig. Staff was helpful and turned off the fan/heat as requested each night and turned it on for me in the morning, as I am a light sleeper and the fan ran all the time otherwise. They stored our bags when we went to Taos for 3 nights, and drove us to and from the airport. Some newspapers were available near breakfast room; it would have been great to get one at our room door. We certainly enjoyed our week long stay and think this is a fine hotel.

Room Tip: Residence has tubs, and 2 floors, no elevator, in a quiet setting behind the hotel itself.
