“Dynamite for dino-loving kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Our three and a half year old grandson was mesmerized with the dinosaur exhibits here. He was not alone. We were impressed with the quality and quantity of fossils and explanations that were given. The staff was knowledgeable and quick to assist with questions. We attended the Imax 3-D offering and enjoyed it, too. The gift shop is well-stocked and not too over-priced for museum-y type offerings.

“Very Nice for Its Size”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

This museum is laid out in an interesting, non-linear way that contributes to the sense of discovery you feel as you navigate its curving pathways. Huge, life-sized dinosaurs give way to intimate, detailed displays that provoke questioning and creative thinking.

The museum has gone to great lengths to use multiple means of engaging patrons, from podcasts you can hear on your smartphone as you walk, to computer terminals with interactive displays, to the simple power of displaying rare and ancient objects up close.

There is an Imax-type theater, a planetarium, and a café (though don't try to get anything to eat there if you are in a hurry, as service is at the counter only and painfully slow). The museum store is well-stocked with books, games, educational toys, and souvenirs of your visit.

Right across the street is the stellar Explora! hands-on science museum, billed for children but great fun for any age, and the New Mexico Museum of History is close by as well.

When everyone needs to stretch their legs or just enjoy the outdoors after a museum visit, you will also find a lovely, large city park a crosswalk away, and you are very close to the numerous attractions of Albuquerque's Old Town.

In all, definitely worth a stop!

Fun place to go and learn all about natural history and science. They also have a movie theater in which they play educational documentaries about interesting subjects.
