“Some great pieces that illustrate the South West.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

This museum was a surprise! It is housed in a light, airy, modern building that is spacious and well organized. There are usually some temporary exhibitions, one of which, on this occasion, was on Vivian Vance, a local actress who was known for her work with Lucille Ball... interesting.

There are a number of permanent pieces that evoke the life, landscape and history of the South West. I was not familiar with many of the artists, but found that there is obviously a lot of talent in, and passion for this part of the US.

“Christo and Jean Claude exhibit and Old Town tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Our visit to Albuquerque was highlighted by our visit to the AM. When we arrived, we were just in time for the Old Town tour. That was a very good tour, providing a good overview of the history of Albuquerque.

The Cristo and Jean Claude exhibit is excellent! As a whole the museum should be high on your list while visiting Albuquerque.

“Lovely museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Take advantage of free first Wednesdays and 3rd Thursday (free from 5pm-8:30pm) - nice way to enjoy exhibits, of which some change, musical and live theater entertainment, as well as The Slate museum cafe. Learned much about Olmec, Toltec and Mayan culture and history two years ago - recently enjoyed the Cristo and Vivian Vance exhibits. May not be the best place for very young children, but pre-teens and teens could certainly benefit.
