I know you get what you pay for and we got a fairly decent deal, but one thing after another made this one night stay go down very fast. First we were given a smoking room when our reservation confirmation clearly stated non-smoking. They had no other room to give us. Then the room was charged to a credit card (required) when I wanted to pay with a debit card on checkout. They indicated that the credit card would be credited but it would take 10-14 days. Then the charge on my debit card had to be adjusted and yet both charges appeared on my bank statement because the reversed out charge would take 10-14 days to post. The credit was for $1.50 that we were charged to use the safe in the room. We explored using the safe when we were going out, but it required a key (that was not there) and a sign indicated there was a nominal charge. Since we had already had a bad experience checking in, we didn't want that hassle, but in the morning that charge was automatically on the bill. When I requested it be removed the desk clerk showed me where the check-out paperwork required us to initial that we accepted this charge, however, my initials were not there because the check-in desk clerk did not point it out. Amazingly both charges went through right away!
There were 3 of us and when there were only 2 towels and we requested more they didn't have any available and wouldn't have any until the morning. They were able to give us one additional pillow because that was all they had. Like Angela's review, out of 3 lights over the sink, one was missing and only one worked.
Overall, the hotel was run down, a cigarette burn on the mattress, the chair was torn up and stained, the wallpaper was peeling and the walls were dirty. TV was old and picture faded. There was no information in the room about anything, i.e., TV channels, safety, etc.
When my grandson went down in the morning to get additional towels, he said there was one kind of cereal and no milk on the breakfast bar. According to the check-in desk clerk this was the time that breakfast should be available.
Overall, the visit was not enjoyable and I will not be staying at a Red Roof hotel ever again.
