I'll repeat one more time: it is absolutely the BEST place to stay in Albuquerque! Just two blocks from the plaza with restaurants and shops. Very clean. Very friendly!

We stayed at Casas De Suenos twice when we were on vacation in NM back in May/June 2008.
Stuff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They made lots of great recommendations for places to eat.
Rooms are exclusive. For our first night we stayed in Rose room and for our second night at La Miranda Suite which was out of this world!

Your stay also includes very healthy and yummy breakfast. We are definitely going to stay here next time we will be in Albuquerque.

Our special thanks go to Robin for her restaurant recommendations and her cheerful personality and to Scott for the best breakfast ever!

Casas de Suenos means house of dreams, and it was all of that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The property is located in the "Old Town" area just west of downtown. There are many shops, galleries, restaurants, etc in the area. All are worth visiting. There are 21 different accommodations to choose from depending on the size of your party. Morning complimentary breakfast is great with fruits of all kinds, toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes, bagels, juices. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with benches, swings, gardens, etc. Nice central location. You feel very welcomed at this B&B.

I planned this weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I.... we were in town for a concert. I had originally booked Hotel Albuquerque, but switched to this hotel b/c of the hot tub. The property is lush and colorful.... we were welcomed by a very helpful and generous front desk rep, who gave us a tour of the fun gardens and showed us to our room (and gave us a quick history lesson). The first night we stayed in the Rio Grande. This was a nice room, but off of the garden.

Breakfast was wonderful and the staff was very nice and welcoming. The waiter was also great. We switched rooms this night so we could have a hot tub. When we got to our room, the hot tub was cold.... we got the front desk lady (who had horrible people skills) and she casually asked the maintenance guy to come help us. He came, and turned it on and said it would heat up. Long story short, 4 hours later and 4 hours of the maintenance in our room, the hot tub was still not working. They left on 4 occasions saying it would work, and each time we would have to go find them to try again. Our afternoon and early evening was spent with a third guest in our room....The front desk woman was rude and asked us to go hunt him down sometimes. Needless to say, the hot tub was not fixed and that was a big let down. The next morning we spoke to the friendly waiter who was VERY apologetic and handled the situation much better than the lazy woman from the day before. He happily called the owner and we ended up speaking to him and he refunded that night.

Overall this property is beautiful, quaint and charming.... unfortunately this one incident (and how she handled it) put a damper on our weekend. Rather than apologizing and being sympathetic, her attitude was "we're trying, what else do you want us to do?" Only after I suggested she "own the problem" and get more help did she stubbornly oblige.

All other employees were wonderful. I would recomend this location for another traveler, just be warey of the hot tub rooms. It's great for a romantic getaway.... and each room is unique and has amazing character. If you're looking for a Ritz Carlton or Marriott, I do not recomend this spot... but if you are looking for a spot with great local charm and decor, then Casas de Suenos is the place for you.

Sandy, the manager, was a wonderful host (though sadly she wasn't present when this happened)

  • Liked — beautiful gardens, traditional decor and delicious breakfast
  • Disliked — Hot tub didn't work, horrible customer service when trying to fix this.

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at Casas de Suenos in the Old Town section of Albuquerque. What a very special little place this is!! We loved it! This was a much-needed romantic getaway for us, without our two kids, and I am so glad I chose Casas de Suenos for accomodations. The individual casitas feel completely private, and ours had a wonderful little private patio as well. So it did not have that sense you get at some B & B's, that you are staying in someone's home. But it had the definite B&B advantages of wonderful personal service and delicious, full, cooked-to-order breakfasts every morning. On our last morning we had to leave before dawn to make our flight, and the staff made us up a breakfast tray the night before with bagels, fruit and yogurt. The grounds are lovely -- I can understand why it is a popular location for weddings! Everything about this little inn strikes just the right balance for me of casual atmosphere but with attention to detail, warm personal service but plenty of privacy. I can't wait to visit again. Maybe next time we will get a two-bedroom casita and bring our boys. Or maybe not...

Imagine that you have an accomplished and beloved but eccentric relative in the Southwest. She lives gracefully, unconventionally, and with style. When she invites you for a stay in Albuquerque, she will pick you up in her '42 Packard and check you in at the Casas de Suenos.

We found the Casas de Suenos to be a peaceful island in modern chaos. The entire ambiance creates the sort of relaxation we imagine that was occasionally achieved by our parents and grandparents. The sort of relaxation they found before it became necessary to believe that happiness comes from 24/7 connectivity, a Hummer and Blu-Ray.

Casas de Suenos used to be an art colony, intended to provide it's residents with a calm, green and beautiful island in which to contemplate and create. Today, the place retains not only the original architecture but also artifacts of it's prior creative and eccentric residents.

The staff are of the same cut. They are generous and helpful in a way that would get them a reprimand for wastefulness in a more corporate hotel. They cheerfully let the lady next to us use their lobby printer to print out the novel she was writing. We had to leave early on two mornings, so they helped us put together trays of food for our room 's fridge so that we wouldn't have to miss breakfast. They gave us recommendations for places to eat that were unusual but exactly what we were looking for.

My wife and I would go to Casas de Suenos again without hesitation. Sure, some of the doors stick a bit, but so do some at home. You have to look very hard to find anything made of plastic. You do not have to look very hard, in any direction, to see a unique and terrific place to unwind.
