“a jewel of a museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

So much nicer than the older version which was on Sandia Base and required going through security. Bright, inforamtive, and well worth the time. A real piece of New Mexico history.

Military and science history was fascinating! Well worth the minimal entrance fee. Great gift shop too!

“Have visited several times, very interesting!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

This is a relatively new museum and they are always improving. Being so close to Kirtland AFB is just a bonus. I visit every 6-12 months to see what's new. Go on a day when the weather is nice so you can comfortably tour the outside displays.

“Very Sciency”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

The museum was clearly created for a very niche community of scientists. I was able to follow along but the meat of the museum was kind of lost on me. Half of the museum is the history of nuclear science and its every day uses, but the content truly confused me. I highly recommend a tour guide for that part. The other half was WWII/development and the Cold War. THAT part was awesome. The garden with aircraft is cool because you can get really close to the aircrafts.

“Great value, wonderful history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

This museum features some incredible exhibits that illustrate the history of nuclear science through peace and war times. Great installations and displays walk you chronologically through a timeline. Of particular interest to me were the displays on nuclear medicine. I took my family to visit, and we were surprised at how few people were at the museum on the day of our visit. It's a great, spacious building, and it includes aircraft on display outside. I highly recommend this museum to locals and tourists alike. It's not every day you get to view real thermonuclear devices that malfunctioned!
