“I would stay there every single time I was in Albuqueque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2010

The owner was so very nice. made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. We were given a beautiful room and was told breakfast was between six and nine. We unpacked and then out for some sightseeing. When we got back I stopped in to say how beautiful the front display looked in the evening and I met Carrie the night girl. So friendly we became instant friends. The breakfast room is beautiful, swimming pool is spotless, and in all was just the perfect place to relax.

Two nite stay during road trip, accomodation lived up to its recommendation. Clean, comfortable and convenient to Old Town as well as exit to the west.

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into my room and saw a huge flat-screen TV, and a jacuzzi tub. The separate bathroom wasn't anything special, but it was clean and the water pressure was good. The inn is near Albuquerque's old plaza. An added bonus is that, within walking distance, is the great (and huge) Ranch Market --- a grocery store aimed at the Hispanic community, with fresh-baked pastries, fresh salads and a small cafeteria-style eatery. Very colorful. There are several restaurants in the area too, but with a refrigerator and microwave in the room, it was easy to do a little grocery shopping and fix dinner myself in the evenings. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Kay is the best!

We enjoyed our stay at the Sandia Peak Inn. It was very clean and roomy. The bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful. Old Town and shopping is nearby! We would definitely stay here again!

This is my regular motel for business travel. It is a prob closest to a 2.5/3 star motor-lodge type motel but with additional amenities such as a breakfast bar, heated indoor pool, and on-site owners who do their best to welcome you. The location is good in terms of proximity to UNM, downtown, old town, Balloon Fiesta launch site, but the neighborhood is a little rough. It is located about an hour and 5 mins from Santa Fe assuming lawfuls speeds/light traffic. "Business Center" is recent addition but out of toush with charges for paper, etc.

We chose the Sandia Peak Motel based on the favorable reviews on Tripadvisor.com. We were somewhat disappointed. Kay is a great host, very helpful with local information and recommendations for restaurants in the area, she tries very hard to please; is always available to correct the deficiencies, missing towels, toilet paper, soap that the maids have overlooked and Kay apologies over and over again for the deficienies. On the 2nd day we paid for the entire week (Hot Air Balloon Fiesta). We stayed for a week in unit #118, the bed was clean and comfortable, the shower water pressure was excellent, the toilet, tub, and sink were very clean as well as the microwave and refrigerator. But the rug was filthy, if you got your bare feet wet by the sink then walked on the rug and back onto the tiles by the sink you left muddy foot prints on the tile. Kay said they were replacing the rug in #118 in November. This Motel is located on a busy steet and and road noise can be troublesome. The continental breakfast room was very clean we ate breakfast one day, it was sugar cerals, sweet rolls and good coffee; but our diets restrict us from sugar and starches so we ate breakfast elsewhere. The outside facility is well kept and is freshly painted and is well landscaped. The office is clean. Apologies and corrections may be ok for a couple of nites but beyond two days, apologiies ware very thin during a week stay and actually the apologies become annoying about the third day. I pointed these deficiencies out to Kay and explained to her they need to install procedures for quality control to make things run smoother and lessen the numerous compliaints we heard for missing items; as well as the filthly rug that needs replacement. It appeared they were short of staff as they were still cleaning rooms late in the afternoon. We asked for decaf coffee for our room, Kay said it would be there in two days but we never recieved decaf coffee in our room. I would recommend this Motel to a friend providing I told him/her what I have written above. This could be an excellent Mom and Pop motel with implantation and strict follow up of quality control procedures and replacement and regular cleaning of the rugs.

This is our second annual stay at Sandia Peak Inn, a most atypical “budget” motel. All the amenities and services we initially experienced in July 2009 still hold. Kay and Pat are gracious hosts, and Kay negotiated a reduced nightly rate of $52.99 for our stay from Sep. 8-13. It’s an obvious reward for remaining loyal to their business, as Kay laments their summer business has drastically tailed off, their most profitable season. Motels usually increase rates during business drop-off, not decrease it!
All rooms are tastefully remodeled, spacious with new microwave, frig and radio-alarm clock. Remodeling efforts are enhanced by their cleanliness standards, which are similar to pricier hotels, not motels. Sandia offers a no-frills cold breakfast buffet (6-9:30A), and has a nice indoor pool (8A-10P). Sandia is in a safe and convenient area located within two miles to the botanical gardens, zoo, Old Town (for touristy gift-shopping), NM Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Arts & History. These places are a great value for new and recurring visitors to New Mexico.
Finding parking can put a damper on your enjoyment for these and other facilities, so why not take advantage of Sandia’s close proximity to major bus lines? Local route 66 and Express route 766 have bus stops within one block from the motel, and are THE way to travel to points along route 66, NOT your car. Take advantage of one or three day passes to get around town, and take advantage of the numerous amenities offered by Sandia.
