“A Great Place to go for a Sleepover!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

We had passed this casino on a previous trip to Oklahoma, but this time we decided to fit a stay into our return trip home. The Casino is beautifully decorated with a wide assortment of games. The hotel was wonderful. The rooms were extremely clean and fresh. Although there was not much interaction with the staff, they were all very kind. So, if you on a long drive and need a refreshing place to stay and play, this would be it. A big tip for you.....get your players card BEFORE you check in and present it at that time. We would have gotten $20 off the room rate, but they won't do it after you have checked in.

Room Tip: Get the players card before you check in for a room discoun t.

As part of a Route 66 trip we stayed here for 2 nights, so we could visit Santa Fe. It was part of a pre-paid package otherwise we would not have chosen to stay here. The hotel is a long way outside Albuquerque and we would have preferred to stay in the city.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The evening buffet was ok but nothing special. Breakfast was much better quality but there was insufficient staff on duty initially. The staff at check-in varied from being very competent to the complete opposite!

If you like casino hotels then consider staying here - otherwise stay in Albuquerque or Sante Fe.

We always stop at this hotel on our NC-AZ trips. The staff is always great, the rooms nice, and the casino lots of fun. The room we stayed in this time wasn't as large as the other times and seemed a little more worn than previous stays. Maybe a little renovating is due. As in all casinos, there was a lot of smoke but that's understandable in these places. If you're offended your kids had to walk through the casino to get to the restaurants, then don't stay in a casino hotel. I've never been in a casino/hotel where you didn't have to walk through the casino at one time or another. We ate at the Thunder Road Steakhouse and Cantina and let me say it was absolutely one of the best meals I've had. A little pricier but worth the food and service. The manager was wonderful too, very personable! The buffet seemed crowded. There's lots of stuff for kids including the pool and a Kids Arcade where you can actually pay by the hour for them to watch your kids while you gamble. The only thing I didn't like was that our room cards were deactivated before we checked out and before we loaded our stuff in the car near the handicapped parking. Our card wouldn't open the door we had just used minutes ago.

This hotel is a gem in the desert; clean, comfortable rooms, at a fair price. It is not a resort so, if you’re expecting that, you should go elsewhere. It is a “hotel”, but the accommodations are definitely above-par for the price, and the amenities offered give the whole family something to do.

Some of the amenities include: Las Vegas style gaming, including slots and table games, a pool and hot tub, an exercise room, an arcade and childcare facility (Kid’s Quest), a nightclub (which is currently undergoing a renovation), a bar, a buffet, and several restaurants. Of the amenities mentioned, we have used the pool and hot tub, and have enjoyed both. We have eaten at the seafood buffet (Thursday nights) and really enjoyed it; and we have dined at both the Johnny Rocket’s and Main Street Restaurant, and have always found them to serve good food at a reasonable price. Our daughter has played at the arcade and loved it, and has spent some time at the Kid’s Quest, which she has enjoyed, while the wife and I tried our luck in the casino.

This is a great place to spend a couple of days, with plenty to do for all. If shopping is the purpose of your trip, this hotel is located less than a half-hour away from a large mall in Albuquerque. This hotel has become, and remains, one of our favorites for a short, fun-filled, getaway.

The first time my hubby and I stayed here was simply by chance. We were traveling cross country and had never heard of this place, honestly. We got in late, but the hotel staff were very friendly and very accommodating. Had a great night's sleep and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast the next morning before continuing our trip to California. Two years later, we were traveling cross country again, only heading east. We planned our trip so that we would stay the night at Route 66 Hotel/Casino again. As before, the staff was great...even the cleaning crew were friendly and wished us well. We enjoyed another great breakfast and headed on our way. Keep up the good work!

We enjoyed a one-night stay here while passing through on I-40. The buffet dinner was fairly good, service was friendly, and the kids' room/arcade was an added bonus. The room was nicely appointed and very clean.

Only complaint is that, as others have noted, the casino is very smoky, and there it isn't possible to get from the hotel tower to buffet without going through it.

All in all, this was a lot more fun that a "normal hotel" in ABQ.

We loved our stay at the Route 66 Casino Hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean and the linens were soft and inviting. I love that the comforters and sheets are white -- this way you KNOW they've been washed. I'm always leary of patterned comforters if you know what I mean. We were traveling with children and they had a great time as well. They loved the Kid's Quest Arcade and the buffet was awesome with a ton of options. The indoor pool was over-chlorinated and actually worse than I've ever experienced. The stench was so strong that it burned my eyes and I couldn't breathe. As far as the slot machines are concerned, they are tighter than I've ever experienced. We lost everything we brought to spend and we lost it faster than we ever have before at other casinos. All in all, the hotel was awesome. If you want a nice comfortable room at a low price then by all means stay here! If you're looking to "win" at anything in the casino then keep on driving! P.S. -- Alcohol is not free and you can't drink on the floor of the casino
