“Cool Place”

The rattlesnake museum was very interesting. I'm not a snake lover, but my husband and son are, and they loved the exhibits. Many different snakes on display, and the curator was very nice and knowledgeable.

So many rattlesnake things. I had no idea that many species of rattlesnakes existed! Lots of great snakes, and other snake related things to see. Price was $5 and totally worth it.

“Cool Place, Needs Updating ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

We really enjoyed the specimens and info, but the facility itself needs a thorough cleaning and updating.

They have other animals besides snakes, including some rare turtles and one cool Gila monster.

The entry is very reasonable, and the experience is really great with well behaved kids. Essentially, the snakes get frightened, coil up, and rattle particularly when a kiddo taps on the glass even thought there are signs all over the museum asking people not to.

We actually had one very angry rattler while we were there because a kid would not stop provoking her.

That said, most kids did great, we just respectfully request that parents carefully supervise their children.

There are some fun things in the souvenir shop, and the owner is fun to talk to... A nice guy.

“A Small Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Museum is small but don't let that throw you....you can do the whole thing in 40 minutes, or longer if you like. Respectable amount of live snakes and varied. But what was a surprise to me was the collection of all (and I mean ALL) things related to snakes,...... like bottles, license plates, clothes...you name it. The man who owns the place is obviously passionate about snakes....some spiders and lizards get thrown in the mix too. If you go, do take time to really look. I was glad to pay the $5 fee so he can keep on collecting.

“Better than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

My sons (12 and 17, respectively) spotted this place while walking through Old Town. Although the entrance fee was very modest, I didn't think it would be worth it because the space looked too small to have much of anything. Turns out we were (thankfully) wrong. Dozens of different varieties of poisonous snakes, and a few creepy-crawly critters, to boot. The very friendly owner was quick to answer any questions we had, and he made sure our boys got their "certificates of bravery" before we left. If you've got an hour or so free in Old Town--and aren't terrified of snakes--pop in here.
