“Walking through history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

The Petersburg National battlefield was huge! I never expected it to be so physically demanding to tour the place. However, it was well worth it. The crater was fantastic, and the staff were very informative and friendly. A must see if you are in the Petersburg area.

“History buff...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

If you're a history buff, especially the Civil War, this is one of the battlefields to see. Evidence of the crater blast is still present. Beautiful park to walk, bicycle or drive through.

“Must see for the Civil War buff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

This park is great. Very clean and well kept, $5 per car is a value. The staff is very knowledgable of the 9 month seige that took place here. The park is huge with many place to see and learn of the life of the soldiers on the seige lines.

“Not just for Civil War buffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

I had read that this site was one of the turning points of the Civil War so was interested to see it. As with most of these places, just looking at the empty fields and cannons does not tell you the real story. You must watch the film in the Visitor's Center and then you get the picture and how the battle/siege really happened. It explains the importance of the siege and how it impacted the locals and changed the course of the War. If you are in the area (just south of Richmond) it's worth a stop!
