“A Comfy & Clean Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

The outside and the inside were clean and well maintained, the room was clean with a very comfortable bed and the location is great for the beach.

This was a beautiful hotel for being a chain. The pool and spa area was lovely, though it was too cold to swim while we were there. Had a happy hour. The breakfast was nothing special. Its not in a great location, but it was definitely a nice enough place to stay.

As I getting around quite a bit - some 200 days on the road in a year - I think I could judge a little about what is a good stay and when it is not. This place is the latter
.
Booking it over Expedia, you don't exactly see, how many beds you get. But as we all know the standard setup of rooms in the U.S are two queen beds. Usually, you are getting charged higher if you need a king size bed, and it of cause depends on the location of the room within the hotel.

With this place it is all different: You are getting a smelly, wrecked, unclean and noisy "suite", with one queen and a sofa - but only if you pay some 20 bucks extra. Why? Just because. Usually, they say you would have a suite with one queen only. If you insist on two queens, it will cost you even $40 more than you have booked this place for.

Other than that, the entrance has the size of a backdoor of a warehouse, the clerk was not very friendly and the equipment (linen for the sofa) that was promised hadn't been there.

Beach front is not the case, too, as the beach is over the street at the Holiday Inn next to it. The list of amenities is a big over exaggeration.

The rooms itself were at ground floor having two windows facing to the wall of the next building. The interior of the room is really old, not a renovation done in years. the kitchen is simple, and the room is dark because of very little windows and bad lights. I couldn't say it was a scenic view, even when the sun was up next morning.

Another boomer was that the shower didn't work. Just a few drops would come out there. The whole hinge was broken, too, and the stains from the shower wall wall speak from themselves (see picture). The room was built for handicapped people.

I was intending to stay there for three nights, but I was lucky that I only did reservation for one.

This place won't see me again.

Room Tip: At least: Don't take the 115 I had got.

I will not be returning to this establishment. Found a roach in the bath, dirty sheets, dirty floor. checked in, left, and returned at 12am and keys to the building didn't work. Had to walk to the adjacent hotel(not far) for new keys that also did not work, waited for nice gentleman from the other hotel to come and open the door. He told me I'm using the key wrong but he couldn't open the door with my key or my replacement key either. Went down in the morning to see if the continental breakfast was worth braving went back up ... and you guessed it my key did not work to my room had to go all the way back down for a replacement. Just too much of a hassle. can not believe I spent my hard earned money. With the reviews you would think its a nice place close to the beach but it is just not worth it. The people working there might have been nice i never saw one person twice. They just need to work on the building. I could see the water from my room just wish the building was as nice as my view.

Only planned 2 nts here, came earlier to stay 3 nts, tried for 4 nts but would have been higher rate. Received a true gulfview suite-queen separate bedroom w/TV, living room w/TV, kitchette with full size stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrig, all kitchen utensils. Parking onsite, no pool or restaurant. Clean, fluffy towels, comfortable bed, looks very new. Early checkin was accommodated. Can walk to the gulf, near Padre Islnd Natl Seashore, 25min to shopping & hustle bustle of Corpus Christi or Port Aransas.....Nice ending to our Texas stay.

This hotel was an OK place to stay. As has been said already, the hotel is not oceanfront. You have to walk across the street for that. I got a partial oceanview from my second floor room. The complimentary breakfast was ok. I was there on a weekend and ate scrambled eggs and sausage. Waffles, bagels, danishes, orange juice, milk were also available. The room rates are reasonable and I was upgraded for no extra cost to a larger room with stove, refrigerator due to hotel not having the type of room I had booked. I never did use the stove or refrigerator-so I can not comment on them. The room was clean. I can not give this hotel an excellent rating (5 dots) only because the " business center" consisted of one computer right in the front lobby ,close to the front desk, where eveyone walks by. Also their "fitness center" consists of two machines in a small room. Otherwise this is a clean, economical place to stay on the Padre Island section of Corpus Christi.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on one of the higher floors facing the direction of the ocean.

Great hotel, was not right on beach. We had to walk across the street to get to it, but was close enough. Rooms were clean and staff was super friendly! Very close to everything. Breakfast was good, but not great. We will stay there again for our next visit!
