My wife and I dined twice at La Playa in late September. The enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, refried beans, charro beans, rice, and margaritas are the highest quality on par with the best Tex-Mex food you would expect to find in famous restaurants such as Mi Tierra in San Antonio or the original El Fenix in downtown Dallas. La Playa has a beef fajita plate with onions, poblano chiles, and mushrooms smothered in a creamy cheesy wine sauce that is absolutely perfectly prepared and delicious, the best fajitas I have ever had. The servings are huge which offsets prices slightly higher price than you would expect to find in most mid-scale Tex-Mex restaurants. They have real hot sauce that has not been compromised to appeal to yankee taste. The chips are hot and fresh, the flour tortillas are thick handmade fresh, and the margaritas are stout and tasty. The staff is friendly and provided prompt quality service. Anyone who knows good Tex-Mex would easily rate La Playa as one of the best in the Lone Star State.
