Booked the hotel as a 33 anniversary get away to the beach for me and my wife. Arrive at 1:30 and we were told to come back at 3:00 for check in. I asked if we could get a room on the back side away from the highway and was told sorry, we would be on the second or third floor but it was quiet. We then went to the beach and returned at 7:00. We were then told, we did not have a room and that Booking.com messed up. What? They then had us a room at a hotel around the corner. I also asked that if we had a room at HoJo the next night and was told no. We went over there, and while we called Booking.com to see what happened, we watched a man walk back and forth to different waiting cars, reach through the window and then leave. Hmmmm, not a place for us. It was Memorial day weekend and nothing else was available for less than 200 per night, so we drove the 3.5 hours back home to Austin.
Check the reviews, this place commonly over books and either leaves you stranded, like us, or provides inferior accommodations. Before I wrote this, I checked the HoJo site and I can book a room for 120 vs the 75 that I had reserved. What else does that tell you about greed vs customer service? How come I was not told at 1:30 that I did not have a room? How come I was told they were full on Sunday night too?
Save yourself some heartbreak and book elsewhere. Happy Anniversary to us, thanks HoJo, it was memorable.
PS - I was given a certificate for 1 free night subject to availability, what ever that means to this hotel management team. But the ladies at the desk were very nice, kudos to them, they must have to do this often.
