“Great Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Checked in a the staff could not have been nicer. They upgraded us to a better suite. It was lovely and large. It had a fully equipped, kitchen with a washer/dryer combo, two bathrooms, 3 tvs and a dvr. The hotel has many family oriented features, pool, wii room, movie theater and child friendly activities which are all included. The pool also is open late and has a full BBQ with a serving area. The staff at the pool and the play areas were so friendly and accommodating too. We came with four families with children ranging from 21 to 4 and all had a great time at the hotel and the harbor. There are no restaurants at the hotel but so many places in walking distance.I just wish it was on the waterfront. I would love to come back with a few couples to walk and dine for an adult only weekend. Looks like there is so much more to do.

Room Tip: See if you can get an upgrade. You really can not see the waterfront so do not worry about getting...

Our family recently had the opportunity to stay for one week at the Wyndam National Harbor property just south of Washington, DC. Apart from a distractive and frustrating check-in, the week was spent in modest luxury thanks to all the resort had to offer. The resort property has wonderful views of the Potomac as well as the surrounding National Harbor community. The staff are well-trained and most courteous. Plenty of staffers were around the property to help with any need. For example; the pools always had life guards, the activities room always had a knowledgeable staff member to assist with movies, pool sticks, etc. The facilities were well maintained (flowers, walk-ways, gym, elevators, etc., were always immaculate.) On the downside, it took the staff at least two calls and one in-person visit to retrieve towels from our unit. This may have been an oversight because other than this, it was a great week.

Room Tip: North side units can actually see the DC skyline. Lower units may be noisy do to the pool area. Pa...

My mom and I decided to trade in our timeshare and see what we could find near DC, which is how we ended up at the Wyndham in National Harbor. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the new construction and cleanliness of the resort. The concierge was able to help us figure out how to use the Metro so as not to have to drive in and out of the city for sight-seeing (there is a bus connection that picks up a few blocks up). We were able to park the car upon arrival and not see it again until it was time to head home a week later! You can also take the water taxi across to Alexandria for the day. Many of the tours also pick up either in front of the hotel or in the downtown area, which is very convenient if you're not comfortable with public transit or driving into the city. There were may restaurants in the area, with some providing discounts if you showed your Wyndham key card. Overall it was a great place to stay in the DC area and it's location was very convenient to the many sites we wanted to see during our trip. I would definitely consider staying here the next time I'm visiting the area.

This was a terrific place to stay, a new area near DC. All new hotels, shops and apartments in location on the Potomac.

Everything you need after a day of sightseeing, or business convention is within walking distance. Lots of good restaurants, shops, etc, Nightlife is good also.

Hotel offers a free shuttle to the Metro. The concierge did suggest to us to walk to the Westin to get on the shuttle, as sometimes it may be full. The Westin is the first pickup spot.

Since the marina is right there , a ferry to Alexandria is a 3 minute walk away. Cost of ferry is $8 each way.

We were a party of six and treking into DC to go sightseeing would have been somewhat slower then taking a taxi. One way to downtown near the Treasury, Smithsonian, Amll area ran $30 for all 6 of usand took about 10-15 minutes.

Taking the shuttle and metro combo to same area would take nearly 45-60 minutes per the concierge during rush hours. Fare for Metro would be approx $5 per person. So total cost of cab was same as Metro and much faster.

Rooms were beautifully appointed and quite large with large flat screen TVs.

Parking is across the street. Call hotel ahead if you are travelling by customized van. Height may be an issue and parking garage has limited amount of room for larger vehicles.

The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and clean. Staff Service was great. Nice locations near a variety of restaurants. Easy walking to the convention like hotel nearby. Be careful and make sure you don't park on the side street . You will get a ticket.

As long time Wynndam owners, we decided to try their new National Harbor. It certainly has lots of great amenities. If you had had children, the childrens museum is just next door. We are enjoying our 3 day stay here. We got an upgrade to a 3br with balcony for 2 people. We really don't
need 4 TVs. I think that the LWynndam at Old Town is more convenient to see DC.

I will start with the good stuff. The Wyndham is in a fantastic location, the staff offered a friendly welcome, the suite we were in was nicely decorated and had nice furnishing. That is the end of the good. The bad started at check-in when we found that our reservations had been messed up, unfortunately the stay was marred by having to change keys and the threat of having to change rooms. The next issue was the vomit in the water fountain beside the restrooms in the lobby. Guess what, the vomit was still there nearly 24 hours later. The room was clean, but not as clean as one would expect from this sort of property. The balcony overlooked a dirt lot and was not large enough for two people to sit on even though they had two chairs out there. I am looking forward to another trip to National Harbor, but I will likely stay at the Gaylord, Residence Inn, or Aloft. You have been warned.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a decent size balcony, if you are brave enough to stay here.
