Description: In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the upper east side of New York City. Playing a leading role in defining what was then a "new" cuisine to American diners, Rosa Mexicano delivers authentic Mexican cooking in an accessible, stylishly festive atmosphere. Rosa Mexicano's menu features a range of award-winning signature dishes, including our Guacamole en Molcajete, in a traditional lava rock mortar. Described by Time Out New York as "green ecstasy in a stone bowl," it is prepared table side and served with house made chips, warm corn tortillas and condiment salsas. Rosa Mexicano is also known for the Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, as well as the stylish and festive ambiance that includes an illuminated water wall.

“Viva Mexico in Oxon Hill? SI”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

I had to grab lunch while attending a conference and this place caught my eye. Having eaten real grubby Mexican fare I was thinking - well this is a cute place.
What amazed me is that they bring their Coca-Cola in from Mexico - which is like Belizean Coca-Cola made with natural cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup and Yup there is a difference. The guacamole was probably the best guac I have had in a long time. The taco was a real corn tortilla taco with shredded veggies, lime and cilantro. The flan was infused with espresso and was super.

Excellent real authentic Mexican food. The service was excellent too. Waiters that explain the dishes and make suggestions. It's a MUST do!

“Good mexican restaurant for lunch or dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Like each of the Rosa Mexicano restaurants, this one has great food, drinks, and is very conveniently located in the modern and growing National area. Ask to sit outside on the patio for a great view of the Potomac River and the territorial view. Meals were very reasonable, clean, and service great.

“It was okay and very EXPENSIVE”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

After reading other reviews, I was expecting a bit more from this restaurant. We ate on the outside terrace in early evening. Have had better guac at other places. Margarita was good but expensive and very small. Cheese enchiladas were a bit plain. Rice and black beans were served on the side family style at the table. For 2 entrees, 2 small mixed drinks, and the guac, total bill was over $75.

“Al Fresco Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

It was a lovely summer day, and Rosa Mexicano has outdoor tables with a view of the Potomac. What a treat! We were there for lunch, and started with the guacamole made at your table. It was excellent. The fish tacos were a big hit, as well as the Tortilla Pie. Our service was attentive without being intrusive. All in all, a very pleasant experience, and one we hope to have again. When the weather is not as appealing, the inside of the restaurant is modern and quite stunning. Good idea to make reservations through Open Table since it is popular. Parking seems to be pricey throughout National Harbor--we got a space on the street close to the restaurant, which was $3 an hour (the meters take credit cards). Garages have similar prices.
