“Modern Amenities, Good Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2010

It was my first stay at the Aloft. I have to say the modern amenities were a nice touch. The arrangement of the room threw me off a bit, but I was able to adjust to the foot of the bed facing the windowed wall with the TV in the wall's center. For the executive traveler, this room was perfect. The desk included a multi-functional power station to plug in multiple devices PLUS a variety of A/V jacks for connecting the laptop to the room's TV. The room contained all modern fixtures and was also "green" friendly with an abundant use of florescent lighting. I stayed in a room with one King bed. The bed was OK, a decent night's sleep for a hotel. The lobby, bar, and lounge areas were all modern as well. I noticed a mixture of families and business people at the hotel the days I was there. My only downside is that I didn't get a nice view of the river, but for the price and location, I'm not going to complain too much. :-)

The hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly. The location is great! You can see the view of the Potomac River from the xyz bar balcony. Great place to stay if you want to just relax or if you want enjoy the shopping and resturants at the National Harbor.

Aloft is a new and ultra modern hotel, not typical at all. Lobby, furniture, and bathroom fittings are sleek and modern. The beds are very comfortable. The reception staff is really friendly and helpful. The hotel is located right smack in the middle of National Harbor. Negatives: No food available in the hotel for breakfast except for packaged sandwiches. The parking garage is also used for event parking and there were few spaces left when I arrived. Hotel reception is up one level from the entrance, and then the room floors are up from there. There are 2 sets of elevators, neither of which go all the way or all the way down, which is a bit inconvenient. But far more positives than negatives. I would stay here again.

Stayed Saturday night following a festival at the National Harbor. Convenient location and friendly staff. Nice room and great breakfast sandwiches included in our rate.

Love the concept of Aloft - free-flowing lobby w/seating area and open bar. Had a great time hanging here the night of Game 7 NBA Finals. The rooms were spacious with Bliss body lotion/foaming face wash samples as well as body wash/shampoo pumps in shower.

The only thing I'd recommend is that they clean the outside of windows - lots of spider webs which caught some bugs but the view of river/harbor is fantastic

Initially I was concerned with the poor reveiws this hotel received but decided to stay anyway. The first thing I want to say is this is a boutique hotel. If you don't know what that is, do your research first. The name of the hotel says it all- ALoft- it's a loft style hotel. The charm of boutique hotels is that they are DIFFERENT from other hotels. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it. If you're looking for a bunch of different amenities, this is not for you.
The rooms are loft-style which is to say they're scaled back. Think Ikea. The room is modern with space saving in mind- a simple desk and chair, a bench under the TV, and another chair to just relax in. The two queen beds had a nightstand in the middle. The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable which is saying a lot considering I am 9 months pregnant. There wasn't an abundance of pillows on the bed which I appreciate. The bathroom had a sink with a lot of counter space and across from the sink, a simple closet covered by curtains rather than doors. The toilet and shower are seperated with a sliding door. The shower is a stall only- no bathtub.
The area is PERFECT!!! Right next to the water, shops, and food. The RE:Fuel cafe is perfect for a grab and go snack but if you're looking for the hotel restaurant, you'll be looking a long time- there isn't one- but Ketchup is attached directly to the hotel.
All in all, I would reccommend this hotel to friends and family alike but I would ensure that they know beforehand that it's a boutique hotel and may not have the amenities and luxury they're looking for.
