Every town, no matter how small or remote, seems to offer a Chinese restaurant and Ajo is no exception. Bamboo Village is operated by a long-time Ajo family and the standard Cantonese-American fare they offer is quick, sufficient and consistent. Locals, especially Border Patrol officers consider it a treat to dine here, and inexpensive to boot! Combination plates are the best deal.
A few tips: Cash only! No credit or debit cards or checks, to my know- ledge. The parking lot is graveled. Decor is very modest as are the rest rooms. The staff is not very chatty but not unfriendly. Bamboo Village does a lot of take out business. In winter, the restaurant can be crowded since it is a favorite of the snowbirds.
