“Good but not Great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2009

Centrally located so easy to get to the many surrounding ski resorts. Hotel parking was $13 a day so we parked on the street. Free from 6pm to 8am. Pool and hot tub were not very clean but nice to have. Room was spacious but not much hot air from the heater. Otherwise, nice. Several restaurants within walking distance. If buying lift tickets, check out the local ski shops as they provide discounted passes to all the resorts. Special note: you can get this hotel through Priceline at a very cheap price.

For a 4 star hotel, the room was not up to standard. The heater had no hot air coming out of it. The room had a funky smell. Found a hair in one of my towels. The drain in the tub was slow and water would not go down. No free internet, parking, or breakfast. Other than that, the service, the gym, the swimming were ok.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center for a weekend getaway.

The good: Clean room, staff was friendly, great pool and spa area, nice bed and pillows. Convenient location to local attractions such as Energy Solutions Arena, Trax, Temple Square, Restaurants, Salt Palace, Downtown business buildings.

The Not So Good: Bathtub backed up, we were mysteriously checked out of our room at 8am on the day we were supposed to check out, even though we didn't do it, a police investigation on the floor we were staying on and the police acted as if we shouldn't have been booked on that floor, parking is $12, even though it was comped when I told the front desk of our "okay" experience.

It was was an okay hotel, but I probably wouldn't stay there. It was no better than the Courtyard, Residence Inn, or Marriott City Center where I have stayed before.

Great location, clean modern room in perfect condition. Staff service was excellent. We spent 2 nights and would stay there again on my next visit. They had a great pool and excercise area along with a deck for getting some sun.

  • Disliked — Do not have a grill resturant for lunch or quick dinner but plenty around the area

My wife and I stayed here with our 18-yr-old son while attending a 3-day convention. We all agreed that it was probably the classiest place we had ever stayed as a family. What was most impressive was the "royal treatment" we received from the staff -- they were incredibly responsive and provided us with excellent service. Possibly that had to do with me being a Hilton Honors VIP, I'm not sure. Our suite was amazing - huge and nicely furnished. Our stay was extremely comfortable and this hotel would definitely be my choice again in the future, when I need to be near the Salt Palace. It is conveniently located near plenty of good restaurants too, so eating out was not an issue. Last but not least, they had the nicest hotel-run fitness center of any I have ever seen. It was large and had a great variety of top-quality machines, free weights, balls, etc.

  • Liked — The staff gave excellent service
  • Disliked — We were on a higher floor and my wife likes to be near ground level.

I am here frequently for business. The staff at the front desk is very helpful. The gym is better than average and they have a pool. Neither restaurant is above average. I would take a right and get sushi two blocks down near Market Street. It is great.

They are near a mall if you want to walk. Many Restaurants are nearby within walking distance.

  • Liked — close to work and restaurants
  • Disliked — internet access only in rooms and for a charge

This was the second time I stayed at the Hilton, this time for a conference. My room was nice and clean, with a very comfortable bed!

I particularly like the steak house in the hotel - great food and nice wine. Service was good - swift and friendly.

Can't complain at all about this hotel!

Location is fab. Can walk to some lovely restaurants and bars, and the tabernacle choir on Sunday morning is worth visiting Salt Lake just to see!
