“Hotel description not accurate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

The stay was comfortable and the hotel is clean and close to everything downtown: restaurants, bars, event centers, etc. HOWEVER, the hotel amenities described on their website are completely inaccurate:
1. They don't have 2 restaurants on site. The hotel is adjacent to the Macaroni Grill and another restaurant but these restaurants are not part of the hotel.
2. Continental breakfast. PLEASE! All there had was orange juice (pitcher was empty), milk (pitcher was empty) and granola bars.
3. Gift shop: where! All I saw was a dark room with empty shells.

I would gladly stay in this hotel again if their site was not deceiving.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Peery. If you are used to modern buildings and spacious rooms, this won't be the hotel for you. But if you like the character of an older building that is generally well maintained with tempurpedic beds and if you like affordability in downtown Salt Lake City near good restaurants and Temple Square, then this is the hotel for you. If I were to stay there again, I'd probably try a King Suite room for the extra space. In the regular rooms the room door seemed to just narrowly miss the bed, and the bathroom door can't be opened fully because of where the TV sits. My only real complaint would have to be the air conditioning. Even with the thermostat set on full cold, the room never got cold just not hot. Some other reviews also mentioned the noise of the air conditioning fan. While I noticed it, it didn't personally bother me. YMMV. The staff was always available and helpful with questions about the area and parking. About parking, there is no hotel parking. But for $3 less than what parking will cost you at the Marriott right down the street ($15), you get a 24hr pass in the public parking lot right on the side / in back of the hotel. Just pull in, pay the machine, put the receipt in the window, and check in. Don't use the lot across from the hotel. It only sells 10hr or 12hr passes.

Room Tip: The rooms are generally small. However, the King Suites are larger and you won't have to worry...

We had a problem with another downtown hotel at check-in so we just got back in our car and drove to see what else we could find. Are we ever glad we did! The Peery is charming, reasonably priced, comfortable, staffed with helpful people, and a quick walk from entertainment and dining. We'll definitely return.

Stayed here for one night on a stop over. Very nice old hotel. We did get stuck in the elevator. Rooms were very large and classic. You have to pay a very high charge for wifi each day. The bar closes early. Otherwise a good value and nice hotel right in the downtown area.

The Peery is a nice old-fashioned, old-style hotel, a little dusty (figuratively). I would much rather stay there than at the over-the-top Grand America, where I attended a five-day conference.

By the way, I am getting very tired of the Trip Advisor minimum length for reviews.

Kicking myself for not booking with the Hilton. Nice historic hotel. Sink and bathtub are dirty. The sheets have holes and stains. The room isn't much bigger than a jail cell. The air conditioning is too loud. The only thing I can say positive is the bed is comfortable. No flat screen tv's. If I was paying for the price of days inn or motel 6 I wouldn't complain.

Spent an evening at the Peery Hotel in Salt Lake City. It was really nice. I love old hotels and this one was charming. The room was a little small, bathroom a little snug, bed was plush and comfy. The Continental Breakfast was served in the lobby and was quite nice. Surrounded by some good places to eat. Service was excellent, and staff was friendly. Would stay there again.
