“PERFECT for the Family Ski Trip!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2011

We just returned from a family ski trip in Utah, and stayed at the Embassy Suites in Salt Lake City. We had a two-room suite, and the accomodations were terrific. They were willing to accomodate most special requests, and the indoor pool and hot free breakfast definitely seal the deal when travelling with our family. The hotel is located only a 20 minute drive from Park City ski resorts, and 15 minute drive to the SLC airport. It is also a short 10 minute walk to temple square or other downtown events. The courtesy shuttle will pick up/drop off at airport, as well as take you anywhere in town (though not to the skit resorts). When in Salt Lake City with family or spouse, this is a great choice!

We had a group of over 30 people here for a week-long business meeting. Everyone had big problems. Most mornings, many people had no hot water and had to take cold showers. The Internet - absolutely critical to our meetings and business - was unusable. Many people could not get connected at all, and for those who could the speeds were a tiny fraction of modem dial-up speed - only a few thousand bits a second. Web sites and email would not work because of the extremely low speed, and constantly timed out or failed in other ways. Staff response to everyone's complaints was "yeah, it really doesn't work very well here" - not even an attempt to do anything about it. Coffee served in our meeting room was not kept full or hot, and there was no decaf. There are two flat-screen TVs in the room, but the picture quality was awful.
On the positive side, their cooked-to-order free breakfasts and the social hour with free drinks in the evenings are great, and the free shuttle service is a big convenience. And the rooms are VERY roomy and comfortable. I also like having the small refrigerator and microwave in the room.

This is the perfect business hotel if you must be in SLC. They offer a delicious free breakfast every morning. My only complaint about the breakfast is that the atrium where it's served is very dark. They really need to improve the lighting. There is free WI-FI in every room and that is a huge value especially when many higher end hotels promote it for $15.00US PER DAY. All the rooms are two room suites that are comfortable and large. Again they need to improve the lighting near the small desk in the bedroom. Most of the people who staff the front desk are amiable and friendly. The unstaffed business center is open 24/7 and computer services are free. There is even a small heated pool off the lobby. I would recommend this hotel for business people and maybe families with children. There isn't a lot of frills but it is more than satisfactory for a business trip.

I was here for business meetings. I walked to the Mormon Tabernacle. The hotel is conveniently located from the SLC airport and downtown Salt Lake City.

My husband and I traveled with our four children (18), (16), (14), and (12) for a ski vacation between Christmas and New Years. The room was clean, comfortable and reasonably sized. Very attentive staff. We ate and drank our weight in the continental breakfast every morning before skiing which included made to order omlets, french toast, fresh fruit, etc. There is no apres ski at the Utah resorts, so we managed to attend the Manager's Special happy hour everyday. Nothing fancy, but free beer, wine, mixed drinks, sodas, popcorn, pretzels, chips and salsa. We order meals in the restaurant as well as room service and the food was good. Ski check in the front lobby so you don't have to lug your snowy equipment to the room. Laundry on second floor to dry your wet ski stuff. Central location to all the resorts, all of which are within one hour or less easy drive to the resorts. The hotel is also conveniently located to the Interstates. We are coming back for sure!!! Can't say enough good things. Best value for the money!!!

What can we say? It's an Embassy Suites, it costs a pretty penny, and it's gorgeous. We can pick a few nits, but that's about it.

The soft drink vending machine on our floor wouldn't take dollar bills and was out of Diet Coke. There was a sneaker scuff mark on the bottom of the bathroom door. The manager's reception was corn chips, popcorn, and salsa the first night, popcorn and pretzels the second night...kinda chintzy, I thought, but there is also free alcohol. Towels could be softer and whiter. There are too many mirrors...I mean, having mirrors to make the place look larger is one thing, but watching yourself in the bathroom from two different angles IS a bit much, don't you think? The mirror in the bathroom steams up pretty badly when you shower...no fan.

It's a suite, so there are two rooms: A bedroom with a king bed and a "living" room with a fold-out queen size couch/bed. There are flat-screen TVs in both rooms, and a 'fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in a small alcove in the hallway next to the bathroom. The air conditioning is about as quiet as air conditioning gets. The king bed was comfy, and there was very little noise to disturb one's sleep. There's a three-place table in the "living" area (in front of a wall-size mirror!) that can be used for dining, if one wishes (my partner liked all the mirrors, but she's prettier than I am). In addition to the sink in the bathroom, there's a small sink in the "living" area that can be used to fill the coffee pot or grab a quick drink.

As with all Embassy Suites hotels, breakfast comes with the price of the room, and comes with cooked-to-order eggs and omelets and the usual array of breakfast meats. In addition, there is the standard array of yogurt, cereal, juices, coffee, tea, breads and pastries, and cut-up fruit. Seconds are allowed and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault.

We broke our usual rule and ate dinner at the hotel restaurant. Yes, I thought it was a little pricey, but not excessively so, and the food was actually good.

I've stayed at several Embassy Suites hotels, and I've never had a bad one, and this one is no exception...it's beautiful and comfortable. If you can afford it, this is the place to stay. Unlike a lot of hotels that rate themselves as 3-star (out of four), this place is an honest 3-star hotel, both in quality AND in services.
