“Loved this hotel”

Great location in Salt Lake City. Room is a decent size. Within walking distance of most areas by the Temple Square. Do charge for parking $5. Helpful staff.

This hotel has to be the best value in Salt Lake. I stayed for 4 nights, 3 of those nights I had a $79 AAA rate and one night (Friday) was $99. Even with the taxes the total for 4 nights came to under $400.

This is an older hotel but remodeled. I had a large King room with a work desk and even a sofa. There was also a frig, microwave, and iron in the room. The room was fine, I had no complaints. I didn't use any of the hotel amenities except the restaurant next door which I thought was a decent family restaurant and also a good value.

The LDS church owns the hotel so I think that's one reason the prices are reasonable. Floors 2 through 5 are reserved for the church so you are guaranteed the 6th floor or above by default. My room was on the 9th floor and I had good views of downtown Salt Lake.

The hotel is next to the geneology library and across the street from Temple Square. If you have business at these locations, then all the more reason to stay here. A TRAX streetcar station is outside the door if you need to go further.

I used the free airport shuttle twice from the airport and once back to the airport. The WiFi in the room was free and worked fine.

I can't think of anything bad to say about this place. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but for the price and location you just can't beat it in Salt Lake.

The Plaza hotel was clean, comfortable and safe. It was your basic hotel. Free internet was a good option. Also free shuttle to and from airport was handy. However, fitness area had only two machines. Pooi was closed. Restaurant attached was a family restaurant -- no bar. Good for anyone who wanted to be close to Temple Square or the genealogy library. I was attending a conference and the convention center was a block away which was handy. Other restaurants and bars were several blocks away.

  • Liked — Safety and free internet
  • Disliked — Fitness center was not very good.

If you like ugly rooms, kids blaring music while dancing in the hall, $5 a night parking, street noise, slow wireless access, and a broken hot tub, this place is for you!

Booked through frontier airlines package with airfare. We had a nice big spacious 1 king bed room with a fridge, microwave, sofa and view of downtown. Everything was clean and staff was friendly.
Our friends had a 2 queens room which was actually smaller and not as nice.
Was a bit disappointed there was no bar in the hotel and we had to walk a few blocks to get a drink, but I guess thats not unusual in Utah. Location is close to everything downtown.

My husband and I have been staying at this hotel for 10 yrs. as we are part of a genealogy research group. This year we had a miserable experience. When we arrived we were assigned a very small one bed unit. The management informed us that they were out of two bed units. After several hours of negotiation we were assigned two small separate one bed units for one night and given two free meals at the restaurant in the facility. The next day we were transferred to a satisfactory two bed unit for the remainder of our 10 day stay. Our group reservation was made one year ago and a double bed unit should have been available when we arrived. Quality customer service and adequate property maintainence doesn't appear to be present at this time. Several people in our research group have complained of a variety of room problems ie: leaks, inadequate room assignments, small coffee maker without carafe, plugged toliet, poor ability to transport groups from the airport to the hotel.

The hotel looks very decent and it seems to be a good value if you are able to deal with some faults. Rooms were clean and the staff was always attentive and willing to help. The beds were pretty hard. There was limited connectivity through the wireless network, making a single computer on the guest library the only option to access internet. JB's restaurant offers a decent breakfast buffet for 7 bucks. It has a great location; next to the genealogy center, and across the street to one of the entrances to the Salt Lake Convention Center.
