“Great Choice in Salt Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2010

This is a great Hilton Garden Inn. It's clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The indoor swimming pool is larger than most Garden Inns and is very nice. The fitness room is also surprisingly large and well equipped. The location is convenient to downtown businesses and attractions plus it offers very east on-and-off access to the interstate. The staff is extremely friendly. I've stayed here twice in the past couple of months and enjoyed both of my stays.

The hotel is modern with lots of open spaces and light, cozy areas within the lobby to sit in front of a fire on a cold evening. The staff was friendly and helpful; check-in process done quickly. The room (king) was huge, spotless, comfortable and quiet. The location is unbeatable. Within easy walking distance to many sights, restaurants, etc. downtown. Hotel is great for business and leisure. Without a doubt, will stay here next stay in SLC..

This hotel was fantastic! Probably aimed more at business travelers but I'm a definite convert to the HGI chain at this point. Sure, it's maybe a tiny bit more expensive but the comfort factor is huge -- so if that is important to you, you should splurge!

First of all, the room is HUGE. Like, almost ridiculously large for 2 people; about twice the size of a "normal" hotel room. Flat screen TV, down comforters, down pillows... all the stuff I love having on the road.

Conveniently located, it was a short drive to almost everywhere. Hot tub/pool (indoors), fitness center, business center and laundry were all open 24 hours which was really awesome considering we didn't even get back until 10 one evening. Hotel staff was friendly but not particularly warm... also would've liked some kind of breakfast at that rate. There is a Starbucks next door though.

My only complaint was that our room had a door adjoining the next room over. Unfortunately on our first night, we had nightmarish neighbors -- 2 young kids awake and screaming around midnight then the same business at 7am. Ugh but that's really the hotel's fault.

This hotel is #1 in Salt Lake for a reason. This is my favorite place I have ever stayed at any price.

We got the whirlpool suite at a ridiculously low price by doing the advanced purchase right on their website. The whirlpool tub is huge, it's almost like having your own jacuzzi right in your room.

It's hard to describe what it's like to check in and go back to the front desk and have them address you by name until you've experienced it.

The rooms are large, everything is perfectly clean, the beds were super comfortable. I can't speak highly enough of this place.

There are undoubtedly more unique and interesting places to stay in Salt Lake City but any property ranked #1 on Tripadvisor in a mid-sized US city has to be worthy of consideration. So, taking a cue from this site, we sacrificed charm, elegance, stunning location, etc. in favor of this well run and totally adequate business oriented property for our brief one-night stay in SLC. We weren’t disappointed.

WHAT WAS GOOD: The hotel is fairly new so everything is clean, modern and fresh here….Rooms are very comfortable and have all the amenities you’d expect for this type of property….There’s a well equipped fitness room and a large indoor pool and Jacuzzi area, both very nice spaces. The staff is exceptional. Front desk personnel, restaurant staff, and others are all top notch….In-room WiFi worked great….The value-to-price quotient here is very high.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER: The property is located in a non-descript commercial district, five or six long blocks from the center of town. It’s not exactly an interesting part of the city. The tradeoff, however, is that it’s very easy to get in and out of the place.

THINGS TO KNOW: Temple Square and most of downtown SLC’s attractions are walkable but you’re looking at a pretty good hike….SLC International is a ten-minute drive….There’s an excellent Japanese steakhouse right next door called The Last Samurai.

BOTTOM LINE: If you’re looking for good, clean, reliable accommodations in a convenient spot in SLC, and if unique and memorable aren’t high on your priority list, then this is a great choice.

I have come to expect great things from the Hilton Garden Inn chain. I have stayed in Spokane and now in SLC. Excellent customer service seems to be the norm for this organization. Just really great service from everyone. They make you feel so welcome. The rooms are awesome.
