this is an edge-of-campus (edge-of-reality) type place that attracts students, faculty, staff and neighborhood folk. i started off as a student and slowly worked my way up through the aforementioned ranks. in the process, i married, divorced, my father passed away, friends were made and lost...all that still remains is BIG ED'S. and my ex-spouse. But Big Ed's, THAT has been the constant. linda lin and her husband bought the joint from the founder, Big Ed, back in the 80's. the placed changed a little but its character and ability to attract interesting people for good grub has only increased with the years. when i was an under grad and sick at home with the flu, linda showed up at MY DOOR with a quart of beef burgundy soup!!! we were like family. i live in the east now and visit salt lake yearly and, when i'm out there, big ed's daily. again. the burgers are great. the fries world class. the diet coke is not served in 36oz. of ice. they have many domestic and imported beers, although that life is past, sadly. i heartily recommend this as a great experience, especially those that have fond memories of similar neighborhood places in their past...this is like THAT, only better. it's ed's.
