I wanted to try going somewhere new that wouldn't break the bank so after reading the reviews about Blue Plate on Trip Advisor I decided to give them a try. I'm not sure how they have so many glowing reviews, maybe they were just having an off day or it was because we didn't have their famous breakfast. Either way, a restaurant should have good items across the board.
We stopped in for dinner and we both ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. The cesar salad was not enjoyable at all, the gravy was so spicy that it made our noses run, my baked potato was very under cooked, and the steamed veggies didn't even come with butter or anything so they were dry. The price was fair for the quantity.. but it wasn't worth the quality.
The atmosphere was nice at first. Although our server was polite he smelled pretty strongly of pot which wasn't appetizing. With how cozy the diner is you can hear most conversations the people around you are having and when the servers were talking they kept swearing. Not something that bothers me but there were children and seniors that could hear them, not to mention it just isn't appropriate in your place of work.
Overall it was an average experience. Average food with average service. Not worth a return visit.
