“Nice Place to Stay in Downtown Salt Lake City, UT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

This motel has nice accommodations and friendly staff. Very helpful with places to eat and "how to get around" downtown. Nice walking distance to a couple of LARGE shopping centers/malls and close to the John Smith Museum and tabernacle. The railway that is only 1/2 block away also can take you to the airport for $2.50 one way.....per person. Cheap and fast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 10th floor for a beautiful view.

Dear tedelker,

Thank you for your kind review! It appears that you were able to take advantage of our latest, greatest transportation option. Recently, our light-rail train system connection to the Salt Lake City International Airport was completed. It connects to Terminal 1 at the airport and is only a 20 minute ride to or from the station approximately one block from our hotel. The convenience for our guests and the price just cannot be beaten. Thank you for highlighting this very exciting, new option. We look forward to your next stay!

Sincerely,

Joel Turner

The staff were friendly and talkative, of course I was dressed as a Starbucks superhero (it was Halloween), so this probably loosened them up. haha The room was comfortable and clean. I like that they served some Tazo and Starbucks products in their gift shop. I had a great stay.

Dear AsherP,

Thank you for your review! I am so sorry that I missed your costume. I’m sure it was a big hit! It’s good that you mentioned our Coffee & News shop as many people are not aware that we have this great convenience just inside our lobby. Yes, we serve Starbucks coffee, tea, hot cocoa, a variety of fruit, pasties and other delicious snacks. As the name implies, the shop sells newspapers as well as souvenirs and many essentials that guests may need. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Salt Lake City!

Sincerely,

We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Downtown Radisson, just a block away from Temple Square.

The hotel has had a recent facelift and I enjoyed the new contemporary colors. The room had nice clean carpet and white duvet comforters. The bed was very soft (a bit too soft for my taste but my wife loved it). They had these very cool reading lamps (pen light size) on each side of the bed that I thought were a nice touch. The shower had an awesome large "sunflower" sized showerhead, much better than those dinky 2 inch ones. Over all the room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable.

We visited the indoor pool, and all though its not very big it does have soft and plush pool furniture, a nice sized whirlpool/hot tub, a sauna, and a shower to rinse off. There are also two handicap assistance devices to lower those that need it into both the pool and hot tub.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the Copper Canyon restaurant. Everything was hot and delicious: oatmeal, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Hilton downtown a few years ago and this was much better. Overall a great night.

Dear PeakHealth,

Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your compliments on our recent renovation updates as well as our breakfast. The breakfast buffet covers a wide variety and if you would rather just order a la carte, we also have some very tasty items on the menu. Please come see us again soon!

Much better stay - decent room, helpful staff and decent brekkie.

Very near downtown and shopping and the stadium. Parking across the road always available. Comfortable beds.

Would book again when staying - on a par with the Marriott.

I made this reservation last minute because I was already in Salt Lake and uncomfortable at another hotel. they made the reservation, and allowed me to check in at 9:30 am, although they were nearly full - I truly appreciated this service. At check-out, the line was long; only one person doing checkout while another was on the phone nearby, and nothing was done to move the line along - I had an early meeting and had to rush - they didn't seem to care.

Otherwise, the hotel was fine - nothing special, but a better deal and location than others in the city.

Dear rochestertraveller,

Thank you for your review! We are glad that you decided to stay with us and pleased that we were able to accommodate your early check-in. I must apologize for the delay at checkout. We understand that often times our guests are in a rush at checkout, so receipts as well as instructions are slid under guests’ room doors for an express checkout. I also realize that there are situations where a bill may need additional attention. I will continue to review our schedules to ensure adequate front desk coverage. Thank you again and we look forward to having you as our guest in the future.

Sincerely,

Joel Turner

I stayed here very often and it has undergone some great changes but something happened in late 2012-present.
The copper canyon restaurant (onsite hotel restaurant) has reduced it's menu from a full lunch / dinner menu to a meager sandwich / burger / salad menu. This would be passable if the sandwiches, burgers and salads were great- but they are not worth it. You'd be more impressed with fast food. This restaurant seems incapable of putting a real menu together and hasn't done so in over 6 months.
Their breakfast buffet is just 'ok' and I opted to order off of the menu. My enchilada style egg omelette was filled with all of the offerings from the buffet and topped with Marinara sauce. Lovely.
While you could walk to other restaurants nearby this isn't always an option during the cold snowstorm months or even late at night if you're traveling solo.
It is for this reason I will not be returning to this hotel.

Stayed there one week on business (conference) in April 2013.

It is one of the factory-like, very overpriced hotels with no distinct and memorable personality. I will not remember it and I am afraid it will be forgotten very soon in the ocean of other similar hotels.

However, there was something good about it. It was very clean. The location is perfect, right to the convention centre and very close to the city centre. The pool/whirlpool/sauna area was very nice! I enjoyed almost every evening in there.

Check my other reviews for an excellent and definitely cheaper place in SLC.

Dear Stefan H,

Thank you for your review! We are glad that you found our hotel to be very clean, enjoyed our location as well as the pool, hot tub and sauna. I am sorry that you felt our hotel was overpriced and not memorable. It is disappointing to receive this feedback. We completed a renovation throughout most of the hotel at the beginning of 2012 and have received many very good comments on the new modern/contemporary décor. We do appreciate your business and hope to see you again for your next conference in Salt Lake City.

Sincerely,

Joel Turner
