“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

Official tours start on the hour on the first floor, and we were fortunate enough to not be forced to join a school group (roving bands of which make this place sound kind of like a pool). You can also self tour. You can see the Gov office, Senate and House chambers, and the old Supreme Court. Oh, and it's all free. And apparently because Utah elected officials are only part time, odds are not much will be going on here when you visit.

“One of the Most Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

I have visited several State Capitals over the years and I must say this was one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. The setting alone is spectacular as is the interior. We started at the Visitors Center which is across the street, in front. Good decision. There are tons of information brochures about every aspect of Utah, plus a nice self-guided tour map of the State Capital. We were there on a Sunday, so the "official" tours were not available. But, we were fine just walking around on our own, admiring the many facets of this historical place. I think it is a must see for anyone visiting Salt Lake City.

“Very nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

The capitol was on a hill and it had great views. It is nice to visit inside, very unique and very nice flowers even in the fall. We took lots of pictures on the stairs. Just nice family visit.

“Architecturally beautiful, good for photo ops”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

I bought Easter dresses for my nieces and we took photos at the Capitol (they have rules about photo sessions, so check the website so you don't get in trouble). Outside was very windy but there were some trees in bloom. Inside, we took photos on the marble steps which turned out cute. I know they offer tours but I haven't been on one since I was a kid. The murals on the ceiling and walls of the rotunda are lovely depictions of Utah's past.
