“Learned a lot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

The building is beautiful and free to get in. I learned a lot about Utah and there are also small exhibits on the ground floor on things like mining. Surprised this isn't higher on the list of "things to do" in Salt Lake City. It's only a half mile from Temple Square so if you're going there you can definitely do both. The Capitol Building staff are eager to tell you anything and everything you want to know about Utah, the state government or tips on where to go next (most seem to be lifetime locals).

“Beautiful on the outside, striking on the inside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

It's open 7 days a week, it's absolutely worth a visit. Very popular place for bridal and family photography. You can spend anywhere from 10 minutes for 1.5 hours there. Beautiful materials inside and out (granite stone on the outside, same as the Salt Lake Mormon Temple; Georgia marble on the inside). Everyone that goes inside is blown away by the rotunda. Great building and most of the year it's not very crowded because the legislators are only in session January through March. No metal detectors or security to hassle you. Gift shop has limited hours and is pricey, but there are not many gift shops in Salt Lake City in the first place. Gift shop is not open on weekends.

“Renovated - nice replica of the White House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

A few years it was renovated and "earthquake proofed" It is a nice walk through with history of the state, as well as history of the building itself.

“Excellent venue for a stage of the Tour of Utah bike race”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

It is a beautiful venue, suprisingly, for one of the toughest stage bicycle races in the United States. The building itself is very grand, and the ground are very scenic. Capitol Hill is a great area to have a picnic lunch and walk around.

“Fun Place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We took our 7 yr old and our 11 yr old. We ate in the cafeteria (which is wonderful) and then took the tour. It is a beautiful building and our kids enjoyed it.
