“A good palce to stay when skiing in the Cottonwood Canyons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We have been taking ski vacations in SLC for years and usually book rooms in the city by bidding on Priceline. This year we were not having much luck with the bidding and happend to run across this hotel on Kayak. The rate was good so we booked. We found our stay to be very pleasant. This is an older property in the south vallley but they have made some renovations and the ammenties were very good. The free breakfast is top notch with the exception of the scrambled egg like substance. The pool and hot tub were well maintained and avalible to guest 24 hours a day. The staff was super friendly. The location is perfect if you are going to be skiing in the Cottonwood canyons. Only about a 20 min drive to all 4 resorts.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is equipted with a new AC/heat unit.

Great find! Convenient location---one block from freeway entrance/exit, very reasonable room rate, clean, spacious room, quiet (during our stay), large TV, courteous personnel. A really nice breakfast is included: bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles, sweet rolls, bagels, muffins, juices, fresh fruit. Hard to beat this place in its price range. Excellent value.

Our overall experience at The Pavillion Inn in Salt Lake City, UT was a good one, albeit, far from perfect.
The good: Josh @ the front desk. Helpful, pleasant. The fresh cookies made daily. The price - $60 (tax included) for skiers. The location (just of I-15 and near State St. (plenty to offer here). Complimentary laundry on the 1st floor.
The bad: the hot tub did not "bubble" or work properly most of the time, plus, it is inside; other front desk personal were not much into "good morning, how are you" or "how was your day on the mountain". The internet did not work efficiently. A former employee was permitted to come sit in the lobby and use the internet (is this a good policy?). The "side doors" are not for entering. Exit only. The beds are "old style" and should be upgraded.

As mentioned, the property is conveniently located off of I-15 and near State St. where lots of restaurants are located as well as movies, and shopping.

With a bit of "management", this property could be a hidden gem. The gas fireplace in the lobby is nice.

A breakfast is included, but it never changed - bacon, "fake" eggs, biscuit and gravy. Again, changing this up a bit and offering some variety would have been nice.

Not sure why this hotel has two different cities listed for same location so I left review on other as well. This will be shorter than other one though, if you want details go to same hotel listed in Murray ut. It is same hotel just listed in different city. The hotels was fine. Clean and great deal for price but they have a crime problem in the area. Me and another guest were both victims of crime. The incidents were 6 days apart so it wasn't an isolated incident. Thieves tries to steal my tire and left car on jack with lug nuts on ground and several days later broke window out of another guests truck and stole baby bags and items. I never not a single time saw anybody from hotel walking the premises at all. There are no cameras so if you stay here do not park in big parking lot. I wondered why everyone crammed around front door and nothing was said my first night there and the next morning I found out why. I parked at front door for the remaining 6 nights I was there. It sucked to have to buy wheel locks for a rental car but at this hotel you need them.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! Great location. Right next to the freeway. Reception staff was knowledgable and friendly, beautiful lobby, check in was quick and easy. Rooms were large and comfortable. Flat screen tv, microwave, refrigerator, air conditioner/heater that you can control, hair dryer and ironing board. The bathroom had a fan and the shower had hot water and good water pressure. The hotel offers free wi-fi, has a small but adequate workout room with nice cardio machines, a guest laundry including detergent and fabric softner, indoor pool and spa, free parking and two computers with a printer in the lobby for guests use. The free breakfast is amazing. Hot items including eggs, bacon, pancakes and other items including cereal, pastries, fruit and juices. I truly don't think you will find a better value for your money. The only areas I think could use improvement are slight updates in the rooms.... fresh paint, perhaps a few more electrical outlets in the room near the beds and maybe a few more pillows on each bed. Overall this was a wonderful experience and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We found this hotel comfortable and met our needs as a first night stop over on a three week road trip. The staff were knowledgable about the area and pleasant. The hotel is located near a fast trax station which took us directly into the city centre. We drove to the station in our car and parked for free however it is walkable distance.
As other reviewers say you get a very good breakfast with a good selection of hot items, fruit and cereals.
