“Peaceful and Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We visited the Salk Creek around 3:30pm and just enjoyed the stillness there and watching the beautiful pale pink and blue sky and the amazingly clear green water. It was a sanctuary.

“Take your camera along”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Salt Creek Recreation Area offers camping, easy walking, some climbing over rocks along the rocky portion of the coastline, a sandy beach, the remnants of a military artillery battery, (supported by excellent documentation and old military photos), great photo ops and more. When the tide is OUT, you can explore the tidal pools and the rocky portion of the coastline, finding small crabs and other sea life.

“A beautiful place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

This park is a little piece of heaven right on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, a short ride from Port Angeles, but miles away in feel. You can see Vancouver Island directly across the water. You can also see lots of marine life, in tide pools and out swimming around, and it is on the "whale trail" if you are lucky enough to catch sight of one.
The 1st part when you arrive has open spaces, ball field, picnic area, and off to the left, RV parking. When you explore around, you find the car camping spots further off in the forest. There are lots of great camping sites, some right on the edge of the cliffs looking over the water. (they fill up quickly in the summer, and some can be reserved). There is a trail along the cliffs with views of Crescent beach to thre west, and great sunrises and sunsets. We camped out in the car camp area and it was just spectacular. The host was very friendly and informative, and has firewood available. There are restrooms with pay showers and the facilities are well maintained. We hiked a trail to old war bunkers built to defend the coast. There are interpretive signs throughout, giving lots of info about the area's history and marine life.
This is a great place to take out of town visitors to get a real feel for the Pacific Northwest.
We found the park just after relocating, and have been coming out often to explore, and every time we have guests we bring them to show off the beauty of the area.

“Very interesting area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We got to see the old gun implacements and learned how they were used to protect the waterway. The hike was great and the tide pools were something to see. We want to camp at the park now. THere are great sites.

“nature galore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

great place to watch nature. Be sure to head back into the camp ground and go at low tide to walk in the tidelands. Great Beach and some suprises up the hill. Have seen seals and whales here - not orcas. Eagles and starfish.
