We were in Macon for the Macon Film Festival. As filmmakers, we were offered the Holiday Inn outside of town for a discount but opted to stay at the 1842 Inn without a discount since it was in town and we wanted to get the flavor of the South.
This Inn met our expectations in every way: nice location, a beautiful southern home, true southern hospitality, comfortable and charming accommodations (pick your room from 19 choices), quiet, delicious full breakfast, and a full bar offering house special Mint Juleps (so wanted to try one) and Martinis, wine and beer, etc.
We were told by the locals that 1842 is the best place to stay in Macon. The city doesn't offer much in luxury accommodations, but this Inn fits the bill for the discerning traveler looking for something more than a freeway (or Interstate) budget hotel.
Loved this place!
