“WHOA!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Took my niece to the Hay house both of our first times ever and we were blown away. It was one of the hottest days in July so bring a fan. Guide was kind, very informational, but wish he shared a little more personality. It could of been a lot more fun. We only saw 3 stories of the 7 story home. They have done great restoration. Though they really need a regular full time cleaning person/staff bugs and roaches especially on main floor. Ewwwwe. Guide was kind enough to tell us we can sit in air conditioning as long as we wanted as the car cooled down. We had a great time! Next time we won't go during summer. I heard Fall / Christmas tour is awesome and you get to see all 7 stories. Looking forward to that one.

“A must see!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We were driving through on our way to Savannah and had Macon down as a possible site to see.We only made one stop and it was to the Hay House, and SOOO worth the stop. Have toured many homes over the years and this left me speechless. The detail, architecture..all stunning! Our tour guide was fabulous and made this experience one not to forget. I'll be recommneding this to all my friends who are travelling south!

“Christmas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

I just thought the house would be decorated in period decorations. Had one tree put up and that was it, I had seen all the advertisements for Christmas at the Hay House so I was not impressed.

“Great visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

We were in Macon for a day, having specifically stopped by to allow a visit to this famous site...and we are pleased to confirm that it quite fully deserves its reputation and prior positive reviews.

Our itinerary brought us to Macon in July, not the ideal time of the year for such a trip...and especially at the Hay House, which is not air conditoned! However, it is a truly remarkable structure with equally fascinating history, greatly enhanced by an enthusiastic guide. The interior matches up well against any European palace, beautifully restored...at least on the first floor, otherwise clearly this house is going to be a many year expensive project for further interior work. Truly a house ahead of its time, i.e. indoor hot and cold plumbing, and an interior ventilation system which probably works well some of the time, but does have a hard time holding up to outdoor temperatures in the mid to high 90's.

Parking is a piece of cake, right in front of the structure.

We love touring historic mansions, and the Hay House definitely goes close to the top of our list of places we will never forget. If YOUR travels take you to this part of the world, and if you have even a slight interest in fabulous mansions, by all means do NOT miss a stop here.
