Have picnicked & hiked here twice now & absolutely love it! Scenery is amazing. Kids loved playing near the waterfalls. Just breathtaking!

“Wildflowers and Nature at Frozen Head”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Frozen Head State Park consists of 13,122 acres of relatively undisturbed forest spread-out on mountainous terrain that ranges in elevation from 1,340 feet to over 3,000 feet. It is a great place to view wildflowers in the spring, particularly in late March and through-out April. Most of the Park is designated a State Natural Area. It includes camping, visitors center, picnic areas, playground, 50 miles of trails, several waterfalls, horse trails, bike trails, and a 240-seat amphitheater where the park schedules interpretive talks, slide presentations, and campfires in the summer.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

I spent two weeks at Frozen Head while doing contractor work in the area.
Pros- Peace and quiet, relaxed atmosphere, very clean bath/shower house, staff & rangers polite and professional, campsites are well spaced, very cheap rates, nature trails and huge playgrounds- if you have kids.
Cons- there is no water/electric at campsites, but there are wall outlets at shower house. Cell phone signal sucks, but I guess thats really a good thing.
This place is well worth the money. It was a wonderful experience and I would love to bring the family back here one day.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Stopped for a quick drive thru to check out the campground on our way home and stayed for a hike. This is a truly beautiful area. So peaceful and lush. We will definately be back for a camping/hiking trip.

“Great Park!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

We love Frozen Head! Has a very Smokies feel with huge tree variety, creeks, trout, and great trails. There tend to be far less people as the park is a bit out of the way. Strongly recommend Emory Gap and Debord Falls! I have a pretty elaborate review here: http://dirtychacos.blogspot.com/2012/07/frozen-head-state-park.html
