“Beautiful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We only had one night with Karen at Westwood lodge but found her to be extremely attentive. She organised our restaurant and helicopter flight immediately and although it's the biggest pkace we stayed in along our way the service was still very personal. Breakfast was served in a wonderful lounge area with magnificent views and such friendly efficient manner. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

This is a very comfortable property with large guest rooms, dining and shared living areas. The breakfast was yummy with plenty of choices. I can't say enough about the service. I left a very expensive piece of jewelry in my room. Kaz not only located and mailed it too me but even went back to the post office to track it when it was not received in a timely manner. I happily paid only $16 the cost of postage and insurance. I don't know where else I would have received this kind of service! All the rooms are extra clean and on ground level and removed from the noise of the highway.

We stayed here shortly before Christmas. We were very impressed with the lodge. Although fully booked, we felt totally secluded in our coach house apartment. The apartment was very tastefully decorated, spacious and the patio was surrounded by a beautiful garden with spectacular views of the glacier. The breakfast in the main lodge was absolutely delicious. We had the full English and eggs Benedict before our hike, which kept us going all day. We only wish we could have stayed here longer.

Just be aware that throughout the whole of the town, you will be mobbed by the sandflies. Take some good bug repellent.

Room Tip: The coach house was fantastic, secluded, spacious and with stunning views

Stayed here for 2 nights as we passed through Franz Josef on our South Island tour. Accommodation was excellent with large, clean and comfortable rooms. The Lodge Great Room with fire and bar - hosted by the owner - was wonderful for a warming sit down out of the rain and to chat with other travelers. Breakfast was really good. Overall an excellent stay.

This is a small property but extremely well run and cared for by Kaz.

Kaz has done a great job of redesigning the Westwood in a way that gives a home away from home feeling. She is fastidious in the upkeep of the property.

The breakfasts are great and the rooms are welcoming including a real shower instead of other properties in Oz and NZ we stayed at.

There are some great restaurants in town although unlike others we were disappointed with Alice Mays - too busy to provide decent service.

Kaz was very welcoming as was Benson the labradoodle who is superbly trained and doesn't go into the rooms.
Lovely accommodation, excellent shower/wet-room and tub bath
Complimentary wifi was much appreciated as we had been away from uk for nearly 4weeks
Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The lounge/public areas are lovely and although it was quiet when we visited (just prior to the Christmas rush) I can imagine its a lovely place to mix with fellow travellers
Eating out entails a 20 minute walk but there is a good choice- we particularly liked the Alice May
Complimentary umbrellas if its raining provided.

Room Tip: We were shown main house (which had the tub bath) or coach house which was slightly bigger but only...
