“Don't bother especially if you have food allergies or intolerances”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Frozen veggies, badly cooked food. My companion had a food allergy and asked what was in the roast veggies, no mention of what she was allergic to so she ordered it. Arrived with food she was allergic to, sent it back it returned she ate some only to find small pieces of the food she is allergic to still on plate. She was sick all night.

“Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

This place looked quite cute from the outside, and with a name like "Plump Pigeon" we thought for sure we'd be in for some delicious comfort brunch fare by the fire. We should have known when we walked in and there were no other patrons. There was also some terrible rap music blaring in the background. Food was terrible. I got the pizza which was pre-made and doughy. The eggs that someone else got looked questionable. In our party of six - not one of our meals was good. One of the worst meals we had in New Zealand.

“Plentiful pizza toppings, but not quite filling”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We shared a large pizza with veg toppings. The toppings were plentiful, which was excellent, but since the crust was quite thin we found ourselves hungry again just a few hours later. (For $25 you would hope for a more filling meal, but this is New Zealand and things are pricey.) What we had was good, though. Ambiance is nice with the fireplace.

“Glacier Ruiner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

The most difficult part is deciding whether it was the worst meal I’ve eaten out in New Zealand, the worst meal I’ve ever eaten out, or the worst meal I have ever eaten. The bangers and mash ($19.50) of overcooked frozen peas, smash original and microwaved “sausages” came in piddley portions. My friends all had similar over-priced frozen meal experiences, and I have absolutely no idea what the camembert actually was. On the upside there was nothing really wrong with the service however the toilet had obviously enjoyed a long stint of time to gather dust. Also I would like to add that the town and the Monteiths beer were charming but we should have gone to the other place down the street.
