“Quaint and pleasant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Lovely atmosphere hidden behind the main street. Staff are great but struggle when the place gets busy. Food is good but stuffed a couple of our orders up. However, definitely worth visiting.

“Nice evening dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We went here for an evening meal on a horrible wer night. We had a really lovely meal. It was really busy but the young staff still gave everyone individual attention without rushing. Very laid back, pleasant surroundings and excellent food.

“Very good dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Alice May Restaurant is definitely a fine place to dine in Franz Josef. We were received warmly by the friendly waiting staff. The range of menu was to suit everyone's taste. We went during the happy hour that was between four thirty and six thirty and received a house wine and main course for $20. I had a pork roast which I thought was very well cooked and amply coated with delicious gravy. The atmosphere was very cordial and the staff were helpful and friendly. The quality and taste of the dishes very good. The background music was mild. As the day was bright and sunny we sat on the chairs outside the restaurant with the enchanting snow capped mountains in clear view. The sight of these mountains were stunning from where we sat. We finished our meals with a lovely posset which was delicious and left a fine taste in the mouth. Overall it was a fine experience dining at alice may. I did not quiet expect this fine and friendly service together with good quality food at this remote part of Newzealand.
